The hit film “Twilight” inspired by the novels written by Stephenie Meyer, have given the actors as part of its cast, recognition that transcends borders, and Alex Meraz (the werewolf Paul) and Charlie Bewley (the vampire Demetri Volturi) are no exception. However, during their visit to Mexico as part of the Hallow Fest 2010, they
said they face this new facet of their lives “down to earth.”

“I have not changed as a person, my only goals were higher. I’ve been through a lot but do not consider myself a celebrity, when it comes to fame, is wonderful to have fans, but I have still a long way to go,” said Bewley.

To Meraz, things are different: “I think people invest a lot of time and energy to be around me, and I’m aware of that, people wait for hours to see you, it’s crazy for me and I appreciate it. But fame does not bother me, the only thing that concerns me is doing a good job and to take acting seriously and if people enjoy it, it makes me happy.”
The young actor commented that he would like to be directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, Alfonso Cuaron and Guillermo del Toro, who expressed their admiration. “I would love to work with Guillermo del Toro and Alejandro González Iñárritu, Amores perros think is great. One of my goals is to make a film with Mexican production, in Spanish. The Mexican film is fantastic, has some of the best movies I’ve seen, like Children of Men or Y Tu Mama Tambien, which are projects with a lot of heart. They are the best storytellers I know,” said Alex Meraz.

Meanwhile, Charlie Bewley said he had no fear of visiting our country due to the violence that exists. “I think every country has its problems. Mexico’s proximity is close to the United States, which is why it has documented the problems you have, but I’m here with an open mind, I do not think (the violence) is widespread throughout the country. I know Mexicans are very spiritual, passionate and culturally have a very rich country, I have no fear of what is happening politically,” he said.
