Los Angeles (CNN) -- "The Help," a movie about the treatment of maids in a Mississippi town during the civil rights era, took top honors at the Screen Actors Guild Awards Sunday night, making it the movie to watch as the Oscar awards approach next month.Viola Davis won the best actress trophy, while Octavia Spence was given the best supporting actress honor. Both women portrayed maids.
"The Help" also won the best cast ensemble SAG award."The stain of racism and sexism is not just for people of color and women," Davis said. 'The Help' Leads The Nominations For The SAG Awards

The nominees for the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced on Wednesday.

"The Help" earned the most nominations with four nods, including honors for Viola Davis, Jessica Chastain and Octavia Spencer.

"The Artist" was in second place with three nominations. The film's star, Jean Dujardin, was nominated for best actor. He was joined in the category by George Clooney for "The Descendants", Leonardo DiCaprio for "J. Edgar," Demián Bichir for "A Better Life" and Brad Pitt for "Moneyball."

Along with Davis, best-actress contenders are Glenn Close in "Albert Nobbs," Meryl Streep in "The Iron Lady," Tilda Swinton in "We Need to Talk About Kevin" and Michelle Williams in "My Week With Marilyn."

The awards ceremony is set to be simulcast live coast-to-coast on TNT and TBS on Jan. 29 at 5 p.m PT from the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles.

Chaske Spencer Talks To 'Blast' About The Twilight Saga

More than anything, Chaske Spencer just wants to keep it real.
This may seem strange coming from the man who just wrapped up a multi-film stint in the massively successful fantasy-laden Twilight series, but a brief conversation with him makes this all too clear.

Take, for example, his perspective on his Twilight character, werewolf pack leader Sam Uley. While he appreciates many things about his animalistic alter-ego, not the least of which are his CGI antics played out on the big screen – “I never thought I would see myself jump off a cliff. I mean it was amazing!” he says – what he most hopes fans will take away from the most recent installments is that which makes the character most relatable – most human.
“What I got from talking to the kids, the fans of Twilight, is that a lot of them just hated Sam. A lot of them did not like Sam,” he recalls with a laugh. “So what I want to do is make him more human, more a character that you can relate to. In the Breaking Dawn film you get this sense that, in the script, he’s out to just kill Renesmee and he hates Bella, but that’s not the case. It’s just that it’s a job that he has to do.”

Similarly, Spencer notes, it’s the human element of filmmaking that has been the most rewarding through his work on the Twilight series and beyond. His bonds with cast and crew from the Twilight films have stayed strong, he assures: his fellow wolves are “like my brothers now,” he says, “and then you have Julia [Jones] and Tinsel [Korey, both costars] who are like my sisters.” It’s like “joining the circus,” he explains. “That’s basically what a film crew is. You join the circus, you all get tight, you’re like a family for a month or two, and then – boom. Maybe you’ll stay in touch, maybe you’ll see them again, maybe you won’t, you know?”

He emphasizes that this is one aspect of filmmaking that continues to draw him in – “Not just working on a character or just being an actor but the stuff behind the scenes.” It’s an affinity for the world behind the camera, bolstered by his recent experience in independent films Winter in the Blood and Desert Cathedral, that has clearly shaped his philosophy on his work and his art. An independent film, he says, is “where the artist comes into work”.
To hear him explain it, it’s answering a call to artistic integrity. He easily ticks off the names of examples and influences, a list that crosses genres and all levels of celebrity. “I grew up watching Johnny Depp,” he recalls, “and like a lot of young actors, I wanted to be Johnny Depp – and we can’t. But he inspires us to stick to artistic credit.” Depp, he notes, had a penchant for turning down big-budget roles in favor of independents, “and he got massive street cred for it.”

He’s quick to cite famous crossover acts like Nirvana and Pearl Jam as well. “I always like bands who stretch, who go further,” he says. “You could be working a 9 to 5 job, but you’re trying to find the easiest way to make a living doing what you love, and of course you’re not going to say no to those paychecks.” But, he says, these bands were able to avoid earning the dreaded “sellout” label. Of Pearl Jam, he notes, “They used the tools that they had, and they just gave themselves some self-respect, and they stuck to their guns, and, obviously, they’re a huge group. They turned down Ticketmaster, and fought the good fight, and they’re still rockin’ and rollin’, they’re still touring.”

So what does this mean for Chaske Spencer, an actor moving into 2012 with a slew of major-budget films under his belt and many of these treasured independent efforts in the works? “I enjoy work on a franchise too,” he stresses. “[You] get a good paycheck, work on a big budget. But then you go back and do an independent movie and you can make up for I guess, ah, whoring yourself out,” he laughs.
Make no mistake: he’s grateful for the opportunities that Twilight’s success has given him – especially the freedom to gravitate toward those projects that allow him to emulate those he so admires. “You’ll never hear me talk bad about ‘Twilight!’”, he assures with a laugh. “Yeah, it’s given me a life.”

When 'Twilight' star Kristen Stewart was on the set of her new film ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ her boyfriend Robert Pattinson made sure that she was hooked up with some of her favorite treats that you can only get in the UK.

Pattinson recently revealed that Stewart is completely addicted to pickled onion Space Raiders crisps after he introduced her to the tasty snack, so he made sure that she had a suitcase full of them when she headed off to film ‘Snow White’. He said;

“Kristen is really into cheap crisps because crisps are completely different in America and you don't get things like Space Raiders. Whenever anyone goes to England now it's, like, 'Bring some back.' It keeps us happy."

CLIP - Things get interesting when Buffy the Vampire Slayer shows up to the wedding of Edward and Bella.

This week's episode of MAD, called "Twilight: Staking Dawn, Cookie Blue," featured a rather lengthy parody of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1's wedding scene, featuring "Edward" (Robert Pattinson) and "Bella" (Kristen Stewart), with a little Buffy The Vampire Slayer action in it as well.

In the clip, "Buffy" stakes out the wedding so as to slay "Edward" and his family.

This is not the first time "Buffy" has been pitted against "Edward Cullen." Back in 2009, the two characters collided in a popular YouTube video which mashed up clips of each.

One hilarious aspect of the MAD cartoon, though, was a moment when "Buffy" addresses certain popular claims that "Bella" might not be the best role model for women by looking at other mainstream female characters - namely Whitney.

If Mirror Mirror is your Snow White movie of choice, we've got some bad news: You're going to have to wait a bit longer than planned before you can see it.

And we do mean just a bit. Because Relativity announced today that they would be pushing the fairy-tale flick from its intended March 16 release date to March 30—which puts it closer to Snow White and the Huntsman's June 1 release.

Not to fear though, that'll still give them a very healthy head start over competitor .Of course, the comparisons will still be there, no matter when these movies comes out, but instead how about we hear more about what Lily Collins has to say about her film...

While Julia Roberts scored most of the screen time in the Mirror Mirror trailer, Lily Collins gets her time to shine—and actually speak, which is more than we can say for Kristen Stewart's Snow—in a new featurette.

"The seven dwarves turn out to be somewhat mentors to her," Lily explains in the clip. "Napoleon creates a whole new look for me"—all together now, fashion montage!—"And our story is a little different in nature—they train me, physically and emotionally.

And she's modernized, which is a fun way to play it."

So just how adorable are the dwarves?

If you're into inspirational pep talks and swordplay and drawf-on-dwarf combat, then pretty dang cute.

But personally, we wouldn't mess with them. ‘Cause it looks like the formerly-named Sleepy and Grumpy and Doc (who go by names like Butcher and Napoleon and Grimm in this version) can kick some serious booty.

We must admit, we're warming up to this re-telling a bit.

While it's no secret we think Ms. Roberts is not at her best taking on the monstrous step-mother role (we far prefer Charlize Theron's chilling queen), this clip comes across more like Shrek-esque fun, ya know minus a healthy dose of subversive humor.

The first scene shows us a spectacular fight in a forest bewteen two armies: King Magnus's army vs the evil queen's. In the impact against the king's knights, the dark soldiers are literally pulverized as if they were puppets. The scene is visually very effective, and it definetely drops us a hint at how much care they've put into special effects.

In the following sequence, we finally meet Snow White's stepmother Queen Raveena, played by a sensual and dark-charming Charlize Theron, who leaves us no doubt on who is really going to be the leading lady...also because she's the one who admits to completely putting herself in this role. << This movie takes me back to my childhood. I go on set and say 'this is my house , this is my mirror' and I feel like being 12 again. It's an ambitious project, but also very funny >>. In the scene we're watching, the queen is in king Magnus's luxurious bedroom, and after seducing him, she hands him a poisoned wine goblet before heart-stabbing him.
The mix of seduction and violence lets us guess that the movie won't be suitable for children, even if script and direction don't go to far, avoiding nudity and blood. But the emotional charge stays high...

Now it's time to meet her, Snow White. Let's get to know Kristen Stewart and see if, after years of Twilight, she'll finally be able to make us forget Bella Swan and surprise us with a convincing performance. We know we'll see her in different clothes from Disney's fairytales, in fact the princess in front of us dresses in practical and male clothes: leather trousers and boots replace long skirts and little shoes. She's lying on a bed in the corner of a cell; she looks exhausted as she tries to suppress anger and fear developed over the years of captivity. A blond guy (Raveena's brother) steps into the room with everything but noble intentions.

Pretending to be harmless, the girl manages to escape and to lock him up in the cell. She does not win our heart like the evil Queen, but we already like this warrior Snow White, also because Kristen's enthusiasm is contagious. << It's a big-heart project, people who don't look at the outward appearance will like it. It's a simple story, but it strikes hard >>.

But now comes the highlight moment, the one that really makes us open our eyes. Raveena is in the hall of her palace (where we are now), standing in front of something we don't identify at first, but which becomes clear as soon as she pronounces 'mirror mirror on the wall who's the fairiest of them all?'. It's no longer the oval-shaped mirror with a bronze and engraved frame, but a shiny concave gold 'plate' which melts in front of our eyes, turning into this statuesque 'lord of the mirror'. A little digital marvel. Our viewing figure has now rocketed upwards.

The male main character, who's not prince charming as you can guss from the title, is still missing. It's another peculiar choice, which really intrigues us. But we're optimistic this time around, since it's Chris-talking six pack abs-Hemsworth. If you've seen Thor, you know who he is, even if Snow White herself tells us: << I cried filming a scene. I had to punch Chris but I put too much strength and he fell to the ground. I didn't expect that and I got so scared that I started crying>>. Sorry figures apart, will this huntsman be just a caveman or will he be able to give depth to the character? Looking at his first appearance (the scene of the trailer where he's dragged in front of the queen who asks him to bring her Snow White's heart), we're pretty positive he will be good.

The last scene takes place in the forest and introduces us to other important characters, the 8 drawrfs. Yes, you got it right. There will be 8 drwarfs. We still don't understand the reason of this modification, but it seems that the group will lose a member at the end. We find them sitting around a fire with Snow White and the huntsman, between whom it looks like there isn't yet the chemistry we expect. From his conversation with a dwarf we understand that the man is considering the idea of involving the girl in a so different mission: creating an army to attack Raveena.
What follows, among dancing, singing and jokes, presents another aspect of the movie: the comic and cheeerful vein brought by the dwarfs themselves with their cutting irony.

I didn't translate the introduction and the end, but only the main article, which is maybe the most interesting part.
Anyway here are some other bits:
- The journalists wonders how much importance prince charming will have in the movie, as they haven't seen him around the set (she saw Kristen and Chris fliming) nor anybody mentioned him during her visit.
- next to the picture of Kristen and Chris on the horses: 'their chemistry between looks great. Then maybe it's not a coincidence that Robert Pattinson's visit on set ended up with a fight between the two of them' (chris) -

Taylor Lautner and Adam Sandler have been announced as part of the guest lineup for Jimmy Fallon's Super Bowl week specials.
This week NBC announced its Super Bowl coverage which includes plans to broadcast more than 18 hours of programming and a special post-game edition of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Late Night will be airing live for four nights in Indianapolis where the Super Bowl match-up between the New England Patriots and New York Giants will take place.
Lautner and stars Tracy Morgan, Adam Levine and Snoop Dogg will make their appearances on February 1-3 with musical guests All-American Rejects, Nas and Fitz and The Tantrums.

Gil Birmingham: Both are so completely different so it’s hard to compare. Yet both are similar in that a father is trying to connect with his son in a way that makes the son feel understood and loved. I enjoy exploring the dynamic with Ethan on-screen. I think Ben and Ethan are a lot alike in many ways, which is where some of the conflict is developed. CarlosCastilloFacebook So I got to work today on a set where the Thor dude, Chris Helms (can't remember his last name), Kristen Stewart from the Twilight Series, and Charlize Theron were shooting an MTV promo for Snow White and the Huntsman Thanks to my nephew Bryan Campos for the hookup. Kirsten is short, cute, tiny. Good skin. Thor is a tall, in shape (lean) blond dude. CHARLIZE THERON...is just straight REPRESENTING IN EVERY WAY...she deserves ALL THE BIG BUCKS. Sweet, gorgeous, funny, TALL...CUTE TOES...She's just on another level.Kristen is super cute though...not in the Betty Boop kind of way...in the short girl, long hair, leather brown shorts with heels, gothic type of way...alabaster skin...tresses of auburn locks.. via Alice_inTwiland/ Kristen215.
