the twilight star and face of mark talks about her involvement with loveisrespect.org, a new resource from the national dating abuse helpline.

Tell us a little bit about the event you're hosting.

The event is for Loveisrespect.org and it's for their "Louder Than Words" launch, and I'm here because I'm the ambassador for Mark. The campaign is dedicated to stopping abuse and domestic violence. They recently created youth advisory board with the National Dating Abuse Helpline.

Who are you most excited to see at the party tonight?

I got to meet a couple of the girls who are the board. They're all very smart girls who are very dedicated. I admire what they're doing, especially at young age; it's incredible and really inspiring.

How did the girls get involved?

Loveisrespect.org did a search, working with the National Dating Abuse Helpline. They had to write essays, explaining how domestic violence has affected them. Twenty-four girls were selected and now they're all out there making a difference, making sure people my age and younger are aware of dating abuse.

The story explores the complex relationship between Li’l Bit (Reaser) and her Uncle Peck (Norbert Leo Butz) as a series of driving lessons progresses from innocent to something much darker.

Michael Sheen is stepping into Paul Bettany's sex-researcher shoes.

The "Twilight Saga" and "Frost/Nixon" actor has been cast in the title role of Showtime's upcoming pilot "Masters of Sex."
Sheen is replacing "A Beautiful Mind" star Bettany, who withdrew from the project in January for undisclosed reasons.Sheen will play William Masters, who together with Virginia Johnson pioneered the field of sex research in the 1960s. The actor will also serve as a producer on the project.Lizzy Caplan ("Mean Girls," "Cloverfield") will play Johnson, Showtime also said Thursday.
Production on the Sony Pictures Television pilot will begin in New York and March. Michelle Ashford, Judith Verno, Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly are executive-producing.The project is based on the Thomas Maier book "Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, the Couple Who Taught America How to Love." Ashford, Timberman and Beverly penned the script.

Summit Entertainment's revenue more than quintupled from 2008 to 2010 based on the massive success of three "Twilight" movies, according to a regulatory filing by the studio's new parent company Lions Gate Entertainment.
As part of a presentation to potential lenders as part of its acquisition of Summit, which was previously a private company, Lions Gate disclosed Summit's financial results for the first time.They show that from 2008, the year that the first "Twilight" movie was released theatrically, to 2010, Summit's revenue skyrocketed from $211.6 million to $1.15 billion. The Santa Monica-based studio also swung from an $85.3-million net loss in 2008 to a $352.2 million profit two years later.In 2009, when the first "Twilight" movie came out on DVD and "New Moon" hit theaters, Summit made a profit of $145.1 million on revenue of $722.1 million.2010 was a particularly successful year for Summit because not only was the third "Twilight" movie, "Eclipse," released in theaters, but both that picture and 2009's "New Moon" came out on DVD.
Studios make most of their film profits from home entertainment sales and rentals.In the first nine months of 2011, the most recent year for which Lions Gate released data, Summit's revenue plunged to $331.3 million and its net income was only $14.7 million. During that period, however, there were no "Twilight" releases.The fourth "Twilight" movie was released last November and the fifth and final installment of the popular vampire series will be in theaters in November.

University students are following in the footsteps of Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Megan Fox, who all started their careers as background actors in feature films.Louisiana has exploded in popularity as a destination for filmmakers, ranking third in film and television production nationwide.
The state's tax incentive program has resulted in more than 300 Louisiana movie productions since 2006, including "The Twilight Saga" and "Battle: Los Angeles," according to LouisianaEconomic Development.Theatre graduate student Donald Watkins has a feature role in "Pitch Perfect," part of which was filmed on campus last semester, where he sings and dances as part of a fictional group called the "Treble Makers." Watkins credited landing the role to his agent and the booming entertainment industry of the state."Louisiana is so hot for film and television right now," Watkins said. "If you have the passion and drive, it's the place to be."Watkins appears in the film alongside celebrities Brittany Snow and Anna Kendrick, who he described as welcomingand humble.
Mass communication sophomore Haylee Clark also interacted with stars when she served as a featured extra for "Never Back Down 2," which was filmed in Baton Rouge in late 2010. She said although she is normally outspoken, she was rendered speechless when she sat next to "Twilight" star Alex Meraz.Clark, who has served as an extra in three productions, said watching herself as an extra in a movie is a unique experience."I don't listen to anything else that is going on. I don't even pay attention to the plot," Clark said. "I'm just waiting for the little glimpse of me."Watkins said after enduring hours of scene re-shoots, he now focuses on camera angles andcontinuity slip-ups when watching a movie. He said his newfound criticism almost inhibits his movie experience.Devin Guidry, theatre sophomore, said she appreciated her role as an extra in the movie "Zombie Hamlet," but would prefer more principal roles in the future."I felt like I was in a herd of cows," Guidry said. "We were shuffled back and forth as they pleased."Guidry said she had to entertain herself between scenes since extras have a lot of down time. She wasn't paid for acting in the movie, but she expected that when she volunteered.Hank Langlois, casting director for Caballero Casting, said his company is constantly searching for a diverse pool of people to become movie extras. He said there is aparticular need for college-aged extras, as long as working does not conflict with school."We cast over 3,300 extras for our last movie, ‘Pitch Perfect,' and a lot of them were college students," Langlois said. "A lot of casting calls are for that age range."

A tongue-in-cheek Twilight musical recently hit the New York stage for one night only, but could the teen vampire books-turned-box office busting films work as a legitimate Broadway musical? Absolutely, according to one of the film’s stars, Elizabeth Reaser, who currently headlines off-Broadway's How I Learned to Drive.

“Oh my God, yeah,” said Reaser, who plays vampire matriarch Esme Cullen in the film franchise, when asked about the idea of a Twilight tuner. “I definitely think [a musical adaptation would work]. It could be romantic and hilarious," she said. "Anything that people connect with in such a deep way could be fun,” explained the stage and screen vet. “It just depends on who is doing it, but I’m all for it."

Now, for the million dollar question: Would Reaser herself have any interest in reprising her role on stage ? “Oh hell no!” Reaser said with a laugh, admitting she does not consider herself a singer. Point taken, but what about her co-stars? ”I don’t know, I mean they’re all singers except me,” she said, before offering one interesting casting suggestion. “Maybe [How I Learned to Drive co-star] Norbert [Leo Butz]?” she mused. “I mean, he’s just such a star.”

Whether or not Twilight ever makes it to the Broadway stage, sexy screen vampire Robert Pattinson is rumored to be showing off his musical skills in the upcoming fifth and final Twilight film. While he was out and about in London town recently, our man Mortensen came round the Empire offices to talk about playing the founding father of psychoanalysis, as well as other topics, such as mechanised underwear, professional photography and Carlito's Way - and here is the resulting webchat transcript.

Stencil says: Hi Viggo, you were fantastic in The Road, what was the most fun part about doing this film for you?
Working with Kodi Smit-McPhee, who is an extraordinarily talented young actor. For those who haven't seen the movie yet, he played my son, a very difficult role.
Quentin says: What was it that got you interested in A Dangerous Method?
Was it mostly working again with Cronenberg, or the psychological theme ? Or both? Firstly, working with David Cronenberg again.
Secondly, the bait that David threw my way, in the form of an elaborate system of undergarments that Sigmund Freud was reputed to have employed on some of his summer excursions deep into the Alps. They included an elaborate system of miniaturised pulleys and wires that assisted in muscular stimulation for the steeper climbs. I was allowed to wear these undergarments in all scenes whether I was climbing or not.

Well, like the role of Freud for David, I was surprised when Walter Salles offered me the role of Bull Lee, the character based on William Burroughs. But then I thought that there were certain things that the two characters had in common, in particular the fact that they both were mentor figures for younger like-minded thinkers. Since I had just completed playing Freud, and had enjoyed that experience, I thought why the hell not?

As part of Canon’s “Project Imagin8ion” campaign, two-time Academy Award winner Ron Howard and daughter Bryce Dallas Howard made a film inspired by eight user-generated photos, called when you find me, that recently screened at the Sundance Film Festival. Alternating between the past and present, the short is an emotional fable of two people coping with loss in very different ways, and what it takes to find peace within yourself and reconciliation with the ones you love.
How did your daughter end up as the director of this short?
HOWARD: I let everybody know that I couldn’t direct it, and they said that I could sponsor or mentor somebody. And then, the idea of Bryce [Dallas Howard] doing it was great because she had directed one short film, had just done a lot of acting, and was looking to direct something else. She’s also interested in moving behind the camera on a feature film level, at some point. And, I knew she’d be an interesting person to collaborate on this with. She has a different point of view and aesthetic than I do, and she’s another generation.
I just thought she’d be an interesting collaborator, even if she wasn’t my daughter, but the fact that she is made it pretty interesting.
And then, the Canon people were really true to their word about not trying to manipulate the process creatively, and really allowing it to be something that was very pure.
Was there a point that you realized that your daughter had inherited the directing bug from you, and it was something that she wanted to do, beyond just her acting career?
HOWARD: Well, she started directing plays in college and she enjoyed it, but she didn’t particularly express any great interest beyond that. And then, she made a short film about four years ago, and it was good. At that point, she actually began taking a lot of classes, in her spare time, in cinematography and screenwriting, and just deepened her understanding of the medium, and I could really see the difference. I visited the set a couple of times, but she didn’t need my help. She really understood the script and had helped shape it into something that reflected her point of view, her aesthetic and her taste. I think she directed a very poignant, beautiful, surprising, almost poetic short film.

The day after Today they were rumours she would leave in the morning so in our minds we wont see her again !
A friend of mine Sarah went and arrived after that Kristen left, which we now know was for another photoshoot! She thought that she REALLY left for the airport "poeple" confirmed that her luggages , well that was a Fucking lie!!
So she knew by some friends that Lana del Rey (which I love) ahah was nearby and about to come out so called me like a good friend and i took a shower and joined her!! but on my way , she called me panicked and told me that she passed in front of the hotel and that Kristen bodyguard was here! they were only 2 when kristen came out of the hotel!!! she was going to lunch and took pictures with them , was extremely nice but they were paparazis!!
I finally arrived panicked coz I was sooo sure that Kristen left!! EVERYBODY THOUGHT SO AHAH!! we were only 4 then i felt really lucky at this moment ! this plus sunday was a one in a million moment! 20 mins later Kristen ' s Van followed by paparazzis arrived ( I wont lie i was kinda pissed to see papz) and she came out of the car recognized us :) I asked her " hey Kris would you please sign that for me " and her " HEY SURE" she then signed my Entertainment weekly magazine you know the really hot "shoot" AHAH and then ( thre is a picture actually of her similling being and loonking at me telling her that) i told her " Kristen you're amazing!! we really proud of you! hey: "AWW THANK YOUU" Me: and really congatulatiosn for on the road ims ure it will be amazing and that'you'll get an oscar , when i said that she looked sooo cute , i think she was moved by my words, and when i told her about the oscar buzz she was SOOO SUPRISEED YOU GUYS!! her words" really whoa" actually all of this conversation is in video so you will be able to see her shocked face AHAH then tooki picture with on of my friend and signed some more magzines!! she said bye and stepped toward the entranc of the hotel , but then she turned around and SMILE , kinda jumped saying "FUCK YOUUUU" in a really hilarious way !! OMG and she flipped the bird to them THAT WAS EPIC TO SEE THAT!!! ahah we laughed and my friend yelled 3 YOU ROCK KRISTEN" ahah I was sooo happy!! This conclude my last 3 encounter with her in the last 3 days :) got really lucky and now her autographs are hangings next to Rob' , Ashley greene's and Taylor Lautner (event Taylor swift LOL) autographs :)!!!
The last time i met her was in 2009 right before "the holding hands pics" and i've been waintint for 3 years basically , I WONT COMPLAIN AT ALL!! This is it I tried my best not to forget anything :). That's insane cause 3 years ago I met @lovethestew in front of kristen stewart , and 3 years after we got to share this again , lil miracle :p !!

Von Roemer explained, "I know they were interested in the little boy puppy all along, but they wanted to come in and get a sense of the dog's personality and make sure it would get along with their other dog."The store owner went on to applaud Drew Barrymore's decision to adopt a rescue dog. "That is just who Drew is," she commented. "She has always been an amazing advocate for shelter dogs and I am just so proud that she chose to adopt a puppy from my store!"Deserving a round of applause for her role in finding Biscuit a happy home, Nikki Reed took to Twitter to celebrate the happy news.

Still, just because you're not a Stephenie Meyer disciple doesn't mean you can't still be a fan of Twilight's leading lady. A reluctant star who seems genuinely bothered by all the attention she's received as Robert Pattinson's love interest (both onscreen and off), Stewart has an edge to her that most other tween favorites don't. And maybe it's that hard-to-get attitude that makes us like her so much. Regardless, forget Edward and Jacob -- consider us Team Bella. Is that an option?

“I won’t lie, there are times when I’m like, ‘Why is this so hard?’ ” Ashley Greene is saying. “You come off a high like Twilightand then you get dropped back down to reality.”

We’re sitting in a cozy Italian restaurant near Times Square on a rainy winter evening, and Greene—who is best known for playing Alice Cullen, the cheeriest vampire in the Twilight saga movies—is laying out her game plan for making it even bigger in Hollywood.

“Twilight has given me something to skyrocket off of,” Greene says. “But now that it’s ending, there’s so much work to be done. And if I don’t do it, then Twilight’s all I’m ever going to be known for, as great as it is.”

Greene is dressed in all black, including a sleek, faux-fur Marc Jacobs vest, plus shadowy eye makeup—but somehow she doesn’t look at all goth. Instead she almost sparkles, like the moon or stars or werewolf eyes or something. Nonetheless, as she speaks, it becomes apparent that having a cult-like following at just 25 may not be quite as cool as it sounds. On the one hand, the throngs of obsessed fans make her feel like a superstar. They build adoring websites dedicated to her and fixate on every single thing she does (this category includes certain creepy folks who staked out her parents’ house in Florida and a paparazzo who once drove directly into her garage in L.A.). On the other hand, she still has to prove herself as a leading actress and audition for people who may not be Twilight fans—only now her competition is often big-time celebrities. “Basically I went from ‘dying to get a gig’ to ‘dying to get the gig that everyone wants,’ ” she says. “So now I’m in this realm with a lot of highly respected actresses, which is an amazing place to be, but also kind of terrifying.”

Greene is moving like mad to get what she wants: The fourth Twilight movie came out in November and grossed $138 million over the opening weekend; soon after that she shot four episodes of ABC’s Pan Am; this month she’ll costar in the quirky film Butter and appear in ad campaigns for DKNY and DKNY Jeans (“I love how Donna Karan designs for real women with curves,” Greene says); later this year she’ll appear in the final Twilight movie, take her first lead role, in a summer horror flick called The Apparition, as well as costar in LOL with Demi Moore and continue her gig as the global ambassador for Mark cosmetics. “I mean, I think I’m doing all right,” Greene says as raindrops pelt the restaurant’s windows. “But the main focus is trying to solidify my spot in Hollywood because, you know, I’m not there yet.”

This sense of insecurity has driven Greene—with good results—since childhood. “My mother put me in modeling classes because I had low self-esteem,” Greene says. “I was friends with older people, so I was always around someone more mature who boys responded to. I think that kind of messed with me.”

Greene’s mother would tell her, “You’re beautiful, and you just don’t know it.” But it didn’t help. “I was like, ‘You’re my mom, you have to say that!’ ” Greene says in a bratty teen voice. “She never actually wanted me to be a model; she just wanted me to feel good about myself. But then there was a chain reaction.” The modeling class led to acting classes. “All of a sudden I wanted to be an actor, and of course, my mother was like, ‘Oh, great, what did I do?’ ”

Greene memorized lines till midnight, practiced acting techniques, auditioned her heart out—and it worked: She landed an agent when she was 17. “And he said, ‘Okay, you have to come out to L.A. for pilot season,’ ” Greene recalls. “And I was like, ‘I’ll be there!’ ” The ultra-driven student already had enough credits to graduate, so she ditched the last half of her senior year and moved to Hollywood. Alone.

She went with her parents’ blessing—and agreement that if it didn’t work out in a couple of years, she would move back to Florida to go to college. In L.A., she spent her days taking acting classes and driving from one audition to another. “I actually cried the first time I drove on the freeway there,” Greene says, laughing. “It was raining, and it was so different from Jacksonville, and I just freaked out. I didn’t get back on the freeway for a month!”

Once she started to make new friends, she faced some classic Hollywood challenges—challenges not every young starlet has navigated so well. “I was like ‘Oh, I can go out and do this and do that,’ and it took me about five seconds to realize ‘If you do that, you’re not going to book jobs, and there are 10,000 girls who want your job.’ ”

“You mean like partying and stuff?” I ask.

“Yeah. It’s all glitz and glamour in Hollywood, and you want to be part of it. And the deadly thing is that you meet people who do have the money and do have fame and are in a position to not spend every waking moment working toward getting a job, and it’s easy to feel like you can do it too, when really you haven’t earned it. You can either socialize or you can study your script, and luckily I learned that pretty quick!”

She nabbed her first paying gigs after about a year: Crossing Jordan, followed by a brief appearance on Mad TV. And then right around the time her parents started to hint that maybe it was time to move back home, she auditioned for Twilight. “I’d fallen in love with the book, so I was like ‘I need to be part of this, and that’s all there is to it,’ ” Greene says. “I prepped as much as I possibly could.” She first read for the lead role of Bella—but lost out to Kristen Stewart. (She says she has no hard feelings about this now: “I honestly understood, and I always related more to Alice than to Bella.”) Then they called her back to try out for Alice, and … nothing. Early one morning a couple of months later, her phone rang. She ignored it. It rang again.

“I answered a little grumpily, but when my agent told me the news, I freaked out and called my parents—and my dad almost cried, which was kind of cool,” she says with a big smile. “My dad was a Marine; he doesn’t cry a lot.”

Like Alice Cullen, who can see into the future, Greene also has a secret talent: running in heels. “When I took the modeling classes in Florida, they had us walk in crazy heels and do the whole runway thing. And actually?” Greene says, laughing. “That’s been very helpful, because I can walk and run in pretty much anything! And they will have you run in heels in films, as ridiculous as it sounds.”

Greene sticks her leg out to show off some breathtakingly high, pointy black boots. “These actually aren’t that bad,” she says. “My stylist usually puts me in five-inch heels, it’s crazy.”

Her stylist happens to be Cristina Ehrlich, who has a particularly fashionable roster of celebrity clients, including Lady Gaga, the Olsen twins and Milla Jovovich. Greene met Ehrlich after the movie producer Joel Silver invited her to join him for the premiere of his Sherlock Holmes film in 2009, while they were working together on The Apparition. When Greene agreed, Silver suggested she meet with Ehrlich or some other stylists to plan her outfit.

“Were you insulted, like ‘I can style myself’?” I ask.

“No. Are you kidding me? I was like ‘Yes!’ ” she says, excitedly. “Listen, honestly, you don’t get sent L’Wren Scott if you’re just yourself. Cristina has those relationships with designers—and now I have access to them, too!”

Greene says she got “bit by the fashion bug” after she started going to fancy events forTwilight—when she immediately became enchanted with the magnificent clothes she got to wear. “My mom was so funny the other day, because I was saying, ‘You can wear this designer to this, but you can’t wear that designer to an afterparty.’ And she just started giggling and said, ‘Wow, you’ve really come into your own in this fashion world!’ ”

One awards show Greene attended turned out to be memorable for all the wrong reasons. Here’s how she tells it: “I wore a dress with boning that was zipped so tight it bruised my rib cage. It made this really beautiful tiny-waist silhouette with a kind of Old Hollywood glamour, but I could barely walk. To accept the award, I basically had to be carried up the stairs. And then I had to go to the bathroom, but when I got there I realized I couldn’t unzip the dress and I couldn’t pull it up. And I was already in the stall, which is the worst because then everything’s ready to go! Oh, and also my feet were numb because I was wearing these ridiculously high Brian Atwood heels that were beautiful but—it was just the most painful experience ever! I had to wait through the rest of the ceremony and then rush home afterward. So you should always make sure you can go to the bathroom before you go out.” She leans back and laughs.

In this month’s Butter, a comedy about a butter-carving competition, Greene expanded her repertoire in more ways than one: Not only was it her first comedy, it also involved her first love scene with a woman, Olivia Wilde. “It wasn’t that awkward,” Greene says about the makeout session. “It’s the same idea when you’re having to kiss a male costar and it’s not real. Olivia is such a cool chick and very professional. So we were just messing around and cracking up in between scenes, and it ended up being really fun.” She smiles. “And now I’m the envy of every straight male everywhere!”

With all the glamorous events and photo shoots and prepping for auditions—yes, she still stays home to read scripts over and over and over again—it’s not too surprising that Greene isn’t seeing anyone at the moment. While she has dated at least one famous guy (Google it), Greene says that her ideal partner isn’t necessarily in showbiz. “What’s most attractive to me is someone who has the same amount of drive as I do, someone who’s equally passionate about what they do, and equally busy,” she says. “But I think that would be a tall order.”

And anyway, Greene adds, she doesn’t need the distraction of a serious relationship right now—there are vampire-free movies to make, producers to woo and red carpets to step on in her five-inch heels. “I’m so laser-focused on my career, because when you’re dealt these cards, if you don’t kind of run with it, then you’re an idiot,” she says, before picking up her umbrella and heading out into the rain. “You’ve gotta take advantage of what you’ve been given.”

I suppose we’ll have to settle for dark magic or whatever freaky thing is attacking the passengers of 7500, the new film from Takashi Shimizu (The Grudge). I really hope that it’s attacking because some guy didn’t turn off his electronic device during take-off.

A source tells HollywoodLife.com Summit has been sending out clips of the final ‘Twilight’ installment to song writers and producers.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 doesn’t hit theaters until Nov. 16, but the movie is going to be finished well before the premiere date. In fact, an insider tells HollywoodLife.com Summit is already working on the soundtrack for the highly-anticipated end of the series.

“Production has been sending out clips of the movie to different writers and producers and is asking them to write music for the movie,” the insider says. “The clips aren’t long — like 1-5 minutes — but they help the song writers get a feel for what they are looking for.”

Adds the source, “Normally established music producers aren’t clamoring to write for movie soundtracks, but the Twilightmusic is always epic, so it’s super competitive.”

As any fan of the Twilight series knows, the films always bring it in a big way when it comes to the music in the movies. Even though we’d love for Robert Pattinson to sing every single song, we’re glad to know Summit is reaching out to the best in the biz!
