I was debating about spending the money to see Kellan and Nikki at Toys ‘R Us on November 20th for about three weeks. I didn’t have the money at the time to just blow on Twilight Merchandise, but because I only live about 10 blocks from Times Square, I knew I’d kick myself for not going to see Kellan. So, that day after class I ran down to Toys R Us and bought a ticket. I was number 352 out of the 500 they had available.
After waiting in line for what seemed like an eternity, they led a few of us at a time up an elevator to the private balcony-type area where Nikki and Kellan were signing at a table surrounded by security. I’m hardly one to get star struck, I’ve met Rob Pattinson twice and was able to hold a conversation with him, but as soon as I saw Kellan my mind went blank and I became extremely nervous. I made him a mix CD and just wrote him a thank-you-for-being-so-sweet-to-your-fans letter that I had on hand to give him. When I got up to the table he smiled up at me and said:
Kellan: “Hi! How are you?”
Me: “I’m good, how’re you?”
Kellan: “I’m great!”
Me: “This is for you.” And I handed him the letter and CD, which his personal assistant/publicist took and put in a pile with all his other gifts.
Kellan: “What’s that? A CD?”
Me: “Yeah, a mix CD.”
Kellan: “A mix CD? Awesome!” And then he gave me a high five and I was all excited.
Then, I was completely star struck at this point and was not coherent at all and said:
Me: “You’re my favorite!”
Kellan: He stopped signing and looked up and said, “I love you.”
And that’s when I just kind of stared at him and didn’t know what to say back. Nikki started laughing because I completely forgot to even say anything to her. And then the security guard had to tell me to move along. All in all, it lasted about 5 seconds, but is a wonderful memory. Kellan is really the sweetest to his fans. He’ll really go far with his talent and the way he treats people.
