SHE may have bared her fangs - and her middle fingers - on these pages yesterday but local fans yesterday hailed Twilight star Kristen Stewart after
Stewart, in town with Taylor Lautner to promote the third instalment of the vampire saga, out on July 1, returned the compliment, telling Confidential how much she enjoyed walking the black carpet at Luna Park.
"Everybody was so cool there was no reason to leave. When there are so many people it can sometimes get really dangerous. But everybody was really nice and it didn't get crazy," Stewart told film writer Vicky Roach.
Stewart was branded a brat after flipping the bird to photographers just hours after arriving in Sydney.
But Twi-Hard Genevieve Begg was impressed by the young actress' demeanor.
"She showed a completely different side on Monday night," she said.
"She was great to her fans, smiling and stopping to talk to people, hugging them and giving them photos."
Melanie Simpson agreed: "People were trying to whisk them away. They were still signing autographs despite being told it was time to leave.
"I think they went above and beyond what was expected of them."
Stewart, who plays Bella in the blockbuster series, once said she wanted to study Down Under but revealed she has put that dream on hold since her movie career took off.
