London producers are trying to entice Twilight star Kristen Stewart into making her West End stage debut.
No play has been decided on yet, but the 20-year-old actress has informally met one producer and a director, and they gave her a list of possibilities to read, with a view to treading the boards some time in the future.
It's all a long way off because the actress, who plays Bella Swan in the Twlight films, has back-to-back movies to shoot, including On The Road, directed by Walter Salles and based on Jack Kerouac's famous book, and another Twilight picture.
The problem Kristen has is that few people see her non-Twilight movies - and all they think she can do is emote by rote in front of heart-throbs Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner (her vampire and werewolf love interests, respectively).
I saw two of her other pictures, Welcome To The Rileys and The Runaways (where she portrayed the young Joan Jett), at the Sundance Film Festival. The Runaways opened in the U.S. and did poorly - but she was great in it.
She's good in the other film, too, but that is held up in distribution hell.
role in the right play (!), with the right director (!), could show she does possess the acting gene.
