Meet Melissa Rosenberg, the screenwriter to blame/thank for Twilight scripts. Turns out she’s quasi-skeptical about the whole thing. Regarding teen romance: “I’ve done it to death,” she tells The Wall Street Journal—pun, we’re going to guess, unintended.
Rosenberg is an alum of Dexter, which we’ve heard is terrific, and the genuinely extraordinary first season of The O.C., and has no delusions about the relative quality of the vampire-movie franchise. The films “are not trying to be Gandhi. Is it high art? No. But it’s not trying to be.” To recap: Twilight: not Gandhi. Anyway, the affable, talented Rosenberg is not the subject of most anti-Twilight ire—that honor belongs to the author of the series, Stephenie Meyer, she who inspired “The Twilight Series Sucks & Stephenie Meyer Is A Terrible Writer” Facebook group.
