David Slade does not mess around. He revealed at the press conference in London that for the proposal scene he demanded a closed set (meaning only a handful of people were allowed in, and not the regular crew of dozens of people) and banned giggling and goofing around (ahem, that means you, Rob) from the most serious scenes as well.
Speaking at a press conference in London, ahead of tonight’s Twilight Saga: Eclipse UK premiere, David said: “It was a closed set [for the proposal scene].
“That stuff is always awkward to shoot and people aren’t always comfortable with each other. There was no giggling and joking around. Everyone takes it professionally.”
He added: “Rob and Kristen didn’t seem to be nervous at all. They seemed to play with each other. We shot the proposal on the very last night and it came together wonderfully. I have to give complete credit to the actors for that one because they really did pull it off.”
That was a great a idea, too bad it didn’t work better. According to Rob, Kristen and Taylor Rob couldn’t stop messing up the tent scene, and Kristen kept making him laugh.
Marie Claire added the following from the press conference:
‘This was the most mature film,’ David said.
‘We really wanted to address the sex issue, as we didn’t want Edward to come across as a prude.
‘But Eclipse does suggest that perhaps there can be a natural rhythm to a relationship and you don’t have to jump into it straight away.’
Telling all on how they filmed the heat-filled scenes, David revealed he closed the set, to create added tension between rumoured couple Kristen and Rob.
‘This stuff is always awkward to shoot, and you just have to get pe
ople really comfortable with each other,’ he said.
