Twilight 2010, backstage - Part 1: Eclipse

From our side, so we could go backstage and share some moments with three players (Michael Welch Alex Meraz and Daniel Cudmore), and with the screenwriter, Melissa Rosenberg, the time to ask them some questions .. .

"Hesitation" the best three films of the Twilight saga?
Michael Welch: Yes, I totally agree. The story is really rich and contains all the elements of the first two, but also adds a lot of things. The action is truly amazing! Everything goes much faster. There are many characters and it also returns in the past to see how the Cullens were processed. Many things happen, but it is not really about high school and then my character.
Alex Meraz: I agree and the rest of the players are too. In fact, I think it's the best of the four books of the saga and all the fans willingly admit that this is the one they preferred. With Eclipse, we have the feeling of reaching the high point of the story and you say "Wow, that's great! I think it's perfect for a movie. And it was very fun to shoot.
Daniel Cudmore: I think this book is very popular. Many people have loved me and for that matter, partly in relation to this story of revenge, which gives a much darker side and aggressive.
Melissa Rosenberg: Absolutely! I think it's largely thanks to the book. "Eclipse" is also my favorite book of the saga and I think the whole story reaches its climax in the third opus. There are many conflicts, things that happen and that was expected from the beginning. So all this is that it is very exciting.

What does it take for your characters, in this third installment?
Michael Welch: My character, Mike Newton, has resolved to the fact that it will probably end up not with Bella (Laughter). So he gets to the point of having to make a choice: does he wants Bella in his life, as a friend or is it that this is not enough for him? And he decided it would be better for him to keep her as a friend, she stays in her life, rather than not have it all.
Alex Meraz: It does not happen much, at least to Paul, in his human form (Laughter). But there is a nice progression, I think, generally for a pack of wolves. They are determined to honor the treaty they signed with the Cullen family. But in Eclipse, the wolves and the Cullens must join forces and put aside the treaty to fight against a new threat. It is a not-for-giant in terms of the pack. This shows an evolution of our hand.
Daniel Cudmore: The Volturi are there because they know what is happening in Seattle, so we just observe and make judgments about all this. My character is rather at odds with Jane (Dakota Fanning) and what she wants. We are also there to see if Bella has been transformed.

Did you read the books before turning the saga?
Michael Welch: Not before, but then yes! (Laughter) Actually, I had never heard of books before the film is planned. But from the moment I is part of the franchise, I read each book one by one, as and as we turned the movies.
Alex Meraz: When I passed the audition for Temptation, there were enough elements in the script to understand what was happening and that was enough to know that I had to do to show my skills actors. Then I got the part and from there I read all four books, to know the history, but also show a respect for the author and the fans. I wanted to know what I was doing, to talk about these things and have a real exchange with the fans.
Cudmore Daniel: I read them later, because this is not really the kind of book I usually read. But I wanted to do justice to the story by reading, knowing and understanding what was happening. I think it's really necessary. We need to soak up the universe, to understand who his characters are, why they love so much, etc..

Twilight 2010, backstage - Part 2: Revelation (s)

The presence of the writer at the convention was a godsend, because since we know that the last album will be divided into two parts, rumors and questions going well for how the film crew there take ... We then have the opportunity to ask the question to Melissa Rosenberg, but also those that many people are asking about adaptation in general and that of "Revelations" in particular ...

Can you tell us about your job accommodation? How are things going there with Stephenie Meyer?
Melissa Rosenberg: Throughout my work, I communicate a lot with Stephenie Meyer. I begin first by writing an outline of the script, so very, very detailed. I put up all my ideas and I contacted many Stephenie Meyer, especially when I'm stuck. I ask him to explain certain things, like what the Volturi in this book or what happens with the new born. She then gives the slopes, the ideas on which I work. Then, I send this first draft to the producers and Stephenie Meyer, they refer me to turn notes on what I have written. We continue our discussions until it matches the wishes of everyone. From there, I write the script properly spoken and trade continues. Stephenie Meyer is involved from the beginning to the end of this work.

-! CAUTION: SPOILERS ALERT! -

We now know that the last album, "Revelation", will be divided into two films. Do you already know how you do it?
For me, there is a natural separation in the book. I do not know yet exactly when we will stop in the first film, but in the first part of the book "Revelation," Bella is human, just married and pregnant while in the second part is a vampire and a mother. So somewhere in this transition, there is a natural separation. But I do not know yet exactly where it will be. It works.

Will you keep the book of Jacob?
No, we will not keep. Hesitation is a good way to introduce the book of Jacob, because in this film, we begin to move away from the simple perspective of Bella. We will see that the newborns, the Volturi ... we're really starting to move away from its point of view alone. So in Revelation, having the vision of Jacob on what will happen almost naturally. We will also maybe you can share other points of view ...

The last album is really darker, more violent and more adult than the other three books. Will you keep these aspects in the adaptation?
Yes, absolutely! I think we can make a film more adult, more violent and sexy, while remaining accessible to the youngest. In fact, I do not see gallons of blood everywhere, I do not think this is necessary. I find instead that show everything away the suspense, horror ... I would prefer the way all this through Bella. Nevertheless everything is there, we are absolutely not shy from it all. We see for example the love scene between Edward and Bella, and the feathers will be at the rendezvous! (Laughter) As the scene of childbirth, which will be filmed as directed by the director. But we all agree that this scene appears in the film, and it is as close as possible to the book. He should expect a scene of horror!
