Savage vampiric allure, à la "Twilight" and "True Blood"

Courtesy of Pamela Love
DESIGNER: Pamela Love

INSPIRATION:
Witch's coven; savage vampiric allure, à la "Twilight" and "True Blood"

TOP LOOKS: Signature serpent and talon rings; wide disc bangles; thick stud cuff bracelets; sculptural metal plate necklaces hanging from chains

ACCESSORIES:
Shredded, splatter-stained cotton camisole dresses designed by Ms. Love; wildly teased manes of hair; dark pewter nails; smoky eyes

WHO WAS THERE:
French Vogue editrix Carine Roitfeld, with daughter (and Pamela Love studio-mate) Julia Restoin Roitfeld; cool-girl-about-town Becka Diamond; Julie Gilhart from stockist Barneys New York; Purple Magazine editor Oliver Zahm; various off-duty models and rock 'n' roll revelers

WHAT WE THOUGHT:
Pamela Love designs jewelry for girls like herself. That is, stylish rock 'n' rollers who know how to wear a bird-claw earring or chunky spiked cuff bracelet. Plenty of the type, along with their male cohorts, attended the designer's spring jewelry presentation, and they were right at home in the noirish atmosphere designed to feel like a vampire's lair. Setting the mood was a backdrop resembling a charred bonfire, layers of Turkish rugs underfoot, and thrumming live ambient music. Models wore tattered black dresses and stacks of cuffs, necklaces, and rings inspired by ancient Egypt, religious ritual, astronomy, tarot, the zodiac, magic, spiritual energy, alchemy... well, you get the idea.

Standout pieces included the wide bronze and silver disc bangles stacked concentrically on the wrist, chunky sculptural plate necklaces hanging from delicate chains around the models' necks, and mile-high spike rings. The designer's signature talon cuffs and serpent rings are more practical -- and must-have staples for cool girls everywhere.
