'Twilight' Makes the 'Guinness World Records' Book...Again

JSYK:
Remember when New Moon killed it at the box office during its opening weekend? Well, that successful debut helped land the Twilight film a spot in the 2011 Guinness World Records book, which was released last week.

The second movie in the five-film series scored a mention for having the Highest Opening-Day Gross of $72.7 million. New Moon dethroned the previous record holder, The Dark Knight, which took in $66.4 million on its opening day.

But this isn't the first time the vampire series has been recognized in the annual book -- Twilight and its director Catherine Hardwicke were name-checked in the 2010 edition for breaking the record for Highest-Grossing Movie by a Female Director. According to Box Office Spy, Twilight has made over $191 million in the U.S. and more than $383 million worldwide to date. We have no doubt that your multiple screenings contributed to that!

The Guinness World Records book logs the "longest, shortest, fastest, tallest facts and feats," and, as we know from Twilight and New Moon's successes, it also keeps track of blockbuster movie sales.
