The 'Twilight' Name Bella Is The Most Popular Name For A Pet

For the second year in a row, 'Twilight' fans have made Bella the country's No. 1 most popular name for dogs, says a survey by Veterinary Pet Insurance. Twi-hards also helped make Edward's love the second-most popular name for cats and the seventh favorite name for exotic animals.

Although Stephenie Meyer's book came out in 2005, 'Twilight' was released as a film in 2008, which helps explain the two-year popularity streak. Bella's dad, Charlie, also cracked the Top 10, coming it at No. 9 for dogs, No. 10 for cats and No. 1 for exotic animals, although it's hard to say whether that is a direct influence of the vampire series.

This isn't the first time we've seen 'Twilight's' influence on names -- Isabella was the No. 1 name for baby girls in 2009, while Jacob was the top name for baby boys in the same year. In 2010, both names still had a strong presence, holding the No. 2 spots for both sexes.

According to the VPI survey, the most popular names for dogs are:
