You’d think there’d be more disappointed ‘Twilight’ fans in Baton Rouge, but if you watch the video to the left you’ll see everyone seems happy, almost jubilant, in fact. People from near and far traveled to the city over the weekend hoping to catch a glimpse of Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson or Taylor Lautner at the on-location filming that has closed Arsenal Park, located just north of the Louisiana State Capitol building, but the stars were nowhere to be seen.
The curiosity began a couple of weeks, after a fan noticed on January 12 that Arsenal Park was being readied for a shoot. Some speculated early on that perhaps it was the location for the climactic ‘Breaking Dawn’ battle scene filming, but that notion was put to rest when actor Peter Facinelli (who plays Carlisle Cullen, Edward’s adoptive father in the film) confided in an interview at the Golden Globe Awards on January 16 the battle scene had already been shot.
Although no confirmation from the production has been provided, clever fans have now deduced – via a not-so-subtle twitter stream clue – that the big-deal filming may be the much-anticipated wedding scene. The tweet from actor Michael Welch (Bella’s friend Mike Newton in the film franchise) quipped, ”I’m off to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to work on a new film called Baking Nan.. wait, that’s not it- It’s called Raking Lawns.. No, hold on…” And, as Twi-Hards know, the only ‘Breaking Dawn’ scene Mike appears in is Edward and Bella’s wedding.
