Kellan Lutz In 'The Bourne Legacy'?
TwilightExaminer
Does Kellan Lutz ("Emmett Cullen" in the Twilight Saga) have what it takes to be a big action star? Perhaps so because, according to Variety, he is among those actors who've met with Tony Gilroy (writer and director of the project) about The Bourne Legacy.
While the full list of those "vying to play the new lead character" is not short by any means (it also includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire, Garrett Hedlund, Taylor Kitsch, and, according to Deadline, Joel Edgerton, Josh Hartnett, Paul Dano, Michael Pitt, Oscar Isaac, Michael Fassbender, Luke Evans, Alex Pettyfer and Benjamin Walker), Kellan Lutz is still on it, apparently.
A few months back, it was announced that Matt Damon (who'd headlined The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, and The Bourne Ultimatum - all based on Gilroy's adaptation scripts for Robert Ludlum's Bourne novel series) wouldn't be returning to the series, even though there are still six novels (and counting) in the series which have yet to be adapted.
If you're even vaguely familiar with the James Bond movies, you'll know that that film series has gone on for decades, with new actors coming and going as the titular character (Sean Connery was the original with Dr. No). So, it wouldn't be completely unprecedented to see a new actor fill the role of Jason Bourne. However, according to Variety, that's not what is being sought here, but rather a "new lead character . . . which is not Jason Bourne but a new assassin with a similar background."
So could Kellan Lutz be the one to lead up this new turn for the Bourne series? Maybe so. Time will tell.
