Kristen Stewart Promoting 'Snow White & The Huntsman' At The Comic-Con
From source: Hollywood.com
If you wanted to catch a glimpse of Kristen Stewart and avoid the chaos that was the Twilight panel, then you should have been at Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman panel where Stewart and company showed off sneak previews of the film and answered a few questions. Unfortunately, none of the gaggle of dwarfs (that's the collective noun for dwarfs, right?) were on hand but we did get the stars Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, Sam Claflin and director Rupert Sanders.
Producer Joe Roth and director Rupert Sanders were the first out, and they discussed the differences between their film and the rival Relativity project. "Our movie is on the scale of the Lord of the Rings," Roth said boldly, not dumping on the other film, but calling it "softer." Sanders talked about wanting to do a war movie, so with Snow White he gets to make a film on a massive scale that should sate his appetite. It's clear by looking at his past commercials that he's going to adapt quite well to a big budget feature.
Though the cast has only briefly met, they all share something in common: They are all wimps (of course, except KStew). They appear to be happy to work with one another, despite Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron busting each others chops the whole time, and altogether this could be one of the best ensembles assembled for not years tentpoles.
Footage shown was test reels that looked good enough to be a feature. Included Knight's getting slashed to pieces, the Queen splitting apart into dozens of ravens, Snow White embracing a big wolf, fantastic establishing shots of kingdoms and castles, the Huntsman chopping wood and looking excellently gruff and more! It looks epic, dark and mature, a total re-imagining of the tale, and that's exactly what the story needs to resonate with modern moviegoers hungry for Dark Knight style entertainment. Additionally, we saw promo images of all of the actors in character. The Huntsman looks like a classic woodsman, the Queen looks incredibly evil, dressed in an obsidian black costume with reflective panel all over it, and the Prince and Snow White are surprisingly both looking mighty and medieval in their armor. Yes, that's right, Snow White is wielding a sword and shield.
There may be seventeen thousand other Snow White movies currently being made but we're fairly excited for this version!
