dakota fanning plays muse to marc jacobs's newest fragrance.
Glow Getter "Like every other girl's, my skin acts up,"
Dakota says. "I used to not drink enough water,
but now I have a ton of it. It's made a difference."
She may be in the midst of red-carpet prep for the mega-anticipated The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 1 (out this month), but Dakota Fanning swears she appreciates the decidedly normal experiences she's had away from the spotlight—like cheerleading, going to senior prom, and attending her high school graduation—just as much. "It was important to me that, even with work, I didn't miss out on making those memories," she explains.
Now a freshman at New York University, the seventeen-year-old actress continues to divide her time between school and career. Recently, while in London to shoot Now Is Good, a drama about a leukemia-stricken girl who creates a bucket list, she eagerly soaked up the local fashion scene. "I got an Alexander McQueen scarf with the Union Jack on it, and I've been wearing it every day," she notes. Dakota's also a loyal fan of Alexander Wang and Elizabeth and James, but she reserves a special place in her heart for : "Marc Jacobs "I love that whatever look he's going for, whether flirty, girly, or tailored, he pushes it to the limit," she explains.
The admiration is undoubtedly mutual, as the designer proved five years ago when he chose the then twelve-year-old to star in his clothing ads and even made a custom (and rather adorable) pint-size collection for her. "I still have all the pieces—they're unbelievable," Dakota says. Jacobs recently reached out to her again, this time for his newest eau de parfum, Oh, Lola! "To be part of this fragrance campaign is a dream come true. Oh, Lola! smells so good, and the bottle is pink—my favorite color!" she says. For her other daily beauty essentials, Dakota simply hits the drugstore aisles. "I use CoverGirl LashBlast mascara and Neutrogena sunscreen every day, and I like Jergens cherry-almond-scented lotion; my mom, aunt, and grandma use it, so the smell is comforting to me," she says—a surprisingly down-to-earth regimen to be sure, but this Hollywood star wouldn't have it any other way.
