HE MAY have just made a movie called Anonymous - but Twilight star Jamie Campbell Bower is on his way to fame and fortune, having already appeared in two of the biggest movie franchises of the last five years.
Although he grabs you by the throat with his performance in Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 1, romped with Queen Elizabeth and got engaged to a Harry Potter star, the 22-year-old isn't ready to be labelled a sex symbol.
In fact, he finds the attention of fans quite baffling - and sometimes downright scary.
"A girl once sent me a bondage collar, some cheese and a very explicit note," he revealed.
"The cheese was Brie and I do like a bit of cheese - but I didn't eat it for fear there was something in it.
"Then in Spain someone pulled out a chunk of my hair, which was really painful.
"It seems there are some crazy people out there - but I can't complain too much because I'm one of them."
So does being part of such massive movies scare him? "I'm nervous when taking part in any movie," he said.
Nerves aside, he loved getting his teeth into a bad guy role as powerful vampire leader Caius in Twilight.
"In the last film, New Moon, there's a scene where we rip this guy apart," he said with a little too much enthusiasm.
"It was gross and grim, and my character just sat there smiling and enjoying it. When I got the script, I knew that was the one I wanted the most."
But he reckons his vicious albino bloodsucker really hits his stride in the two-parter out tomorrow.
Despite his blond good looks and female fans, Jamie plays down the idea he could be the next teen heartthrob of Twilight, snatching the crown from the likes of Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.
"I'm hardly the sexiest man in the world," he protested. "I'm a bit of a geek."
However, since joining the Twilight franchise, Jamie has been able to absorb lessons on handling the spotlight from watching Pattinson and co-star Kristen Stewart.
"They're both incredible actors, and Kristen's someone I've admired since I first saw her in Panic Room," said Jamie.
"Rob is now someone who has mutual friends of mine, so it's nice to be able to work with people you can get along with."
Jamie had just left school when he landed his first big break - a role in Sweeney Todd, opposite Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter - when he was only 18.
He's hardly stopped working since then, having had parts in two Harry Potter films as Gellert Grindelwald, an old friend of Albus Dumbledore - and possibly his boyfriend.
"JK Rowling outed Dumbledore so there's a possibility these two could have been lovers, though the film doesn't focus on that," said Jamie.
Right now he can also be seen in a drama that has Shakespeare fans in a spin - Anonymous is based on the theory that William Shakespeare never put a quill to any of the Bard's plays and sonnets.
Instead, the greatest works in the English language were actually secretly penned by Jamie's character Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford - but a drunken actor, William Shakespeare, took the credit.
Ardent royalists were in for a shock too - because in Anonymous, the Virgin Queen Elizabeth I succumbs to Jamie's romantic way with words. Elizabeth is played by Joely Richardson, who is twice Jamie's age, and when it came to their steamy scenes the two actors didn't waste time - even though it was Jamie's first big love scene.
"Joely and I only had a brief chat beforehand," recalled Jamie.
"But the scenes were fine. You always have to be comfortable with the person you're doing those scenes with - and Joely's a fun lady."
Like Edward de Vere - and his aristocratic vampire Caius - Jamie had a privileged start in life. He attended Bedales, a posh boarding school in the English countryside. He says he has been a performer from a young age.
"I always wanted to be the centre of attention," he admitted. "My mum tells me that I interrupted one of her dinner parties because no one was listening to me. I got up on her table, dropped my pants and mooned everyone."
Jamie's bare bottom has been making a comeback lately - as well as his nude scene in Anonymous, he played a frequently naked King Arthur in Channel 4's sexed-up version of Camelot.
The show also starred Bond Girl Eva Green and Shakespeare in Love's Joseph Fiennes but the big-name cast created a headache for the show's producers, who recently announced they were pulling the plug on a second series, as it was impossible to get everyone back at the same time.
Jamie is clearly a popular new face on the movie scene and he's set to be a huge household name once Mortal Instruments comes out next year.
Like Twilight and Harry Potter, it's based on supernatural books, with Jamie the demon-fighter Jace, who falls for mortal teenager Lily Collins.
"This was a big deal for me," said Jamie. "To put their trust in me and give me that role is very humbling."
Jamie has already signed up for another big role - husband to Ginnie Weasley. He and his Harry Potter co-star Bonnie Wright got together in February 2010.
As Ron Weasley's sister, redhead Bonnie, 20, went on to marry Harry Potter in the final film but in real life became engaged to Jamie in April.
Jamie is adamant that it wasn't Potter magic that brought them together.
"I didn't meet Bonnie on the Potter set, we met at a party" explains Jamie. And while he was delighted that his wife-to-be got a chance to shine in the final film, he admits that he wasn't so keen on Part 1 of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, when Harry and Ginnie cement their romance.
"She was great in the last one," grinned Jamie. "She looked great in the one before too but she was snogging some short guy with round glasses - which wasn't very cool."
In the end, it looks like Bonnie has snagged an even hotter Potter star.
