Hopefully, I stay as busy as I have been; "Twilight" opened up so many doors for me to really push my limits and try my hand at different independent roles. But I also have "Immortals," so hopefully I can do a couple of movies of that also and keep that franchise going.
Or ... get my own franchise. I'd love to be the lead of one.

20 years from now, you could be the William Shatner of vampires.
And I wouldn't mind. You know, some people look back and they say, "Why are you selling yourself out?" or "Why do those conventions?" But the thing is, I don't see it as a bad thing. It's not like I would do it for the money or to stay relevant. It really is for the fans, and if they still want to see me and talk to me and ask me questions 20 years later about what I thought of a certain part of this movie or the experience or just to get a hug, you know that's really endearing.
And again, they're the ones who allowed us all to continue it and make the sequels, make "New Moon" and then finish the book series. So, without them none of us would be… you know, able to do the other movies, and it's not like we're going to forget about them.
The fame is flattering and amazing, but it must have its taxing and stressful side. "The Hunger Games" is getting so much buzz — and a lot of those stars haven't been the center of anything this huge. Do you have any advice for them?
I was blessed, because I come from a family where they knock you down before you float away. I have a lot of brothers who just make sure we have our feet on the ground, and my mom is a rock star. She is an amazing mother.
As far as fame goes, just remember who you were. Don't get lost with it because it gets kind of crazy. And I wouldn't Google yourself either, just because of all the hype. For the hundred people that love you, there's that one that hates you and then that's what you remember. It kind of sits on your heart.
Just know that you're a part of something amazing. The "Hunger Games" is going to be successful and all the actors are going to go on this magic carpet ride. And I know a few of them have worked prior to it, so they aren't going from zero to a hundred. Just be mindful and be thankful for being a part of something. And having this golden ticket that's going to happen.
Do you have any practical advice on handling yourself in public? How do you do something as mundane as eating in a restaurant after "Twilight?"
You always have to be cautious. What really makes me smile is knowing how the "Harry Potter" kids did it. Because with "Twilight," we were thrown into this a little older, versus "Hunger Games" and "Harry Potter," they started younger.
Hats off to starting a franchise younger than we all did in "Twilight" and keeping your cool. The "Harry Potter" men and women had, what, a 10-year run? They held their composure and I would love to ask them that question. I wish I could ask them that question before I got thrown into the "Twilight" stuff. Not for advice, just to really see how they did it because they all kept their cool.
There's always going to be eyes on you, and I think you need to really realize what you're a part of and not just think you don't need to be cautious. Because as Spider-Man says, "With great power comes great responsibility."
Does that responsibility bleed into your personal life? The way you comport yourself in public?
I'm a respectable guy, I think. My mom instilled good values.
If you're like Tom Cruise or Will Smith, if they're out at dinner, there's a way to be respectful and if someone comes up and asks for a photo, don't be rude and be like, "No, I'm eating." Be respectful and just be like, "Yeah, I would love to do that. I appreciate you asking, do you mind if I finish up my dinner with my family or my friends and then we can take the picture."
I think it's just how you communicate and you treat them. And a lot of times these fans, they feel like you're an entity, so you're not approachable. Or like you're this mysterious person where they get all giddy but we're just people. We're just getting food. We're just going out to a bar or going bowling, and some things are very quick to be like, "Yeah I'm with my family, we're bowling, it's family night, but sure I'll take a picture real quick." And you give them that thing that they want, and both sides are happy. Because [laughs a little] it's really cool to be asked to take a picture or to give an autograph. But it's all how you handle it.
Now that we've gotten so profound... who do you think has the best abs on the "Twilight" set? There are a lot of pretty jacked dudes.
I would have to say Alex Meraz (who plays the werewolf Paul).
He's very talented. A very talented dancer and into mixed martial arts, he's very fit. I do mixed martial arts, but people who dance, people who have that core strength -- he can do some really core full-body things. It's like, "Alright, yeah you're a badass."
Julia Jones told us that she was privy to a lot of guy talk when she was filming with Lautner and the wolfpack. You were surrounded by a lot of women for much of your time filming the series. Were you subjected to the same amount of girl talk?
Not a lot, because a lot of the girls -- you know, Kristen [Stewart], Ashley [Greene] and Nikki [Reed], they're like really cool hip chicks and I feel like all of them were tough, like tomboys, growing up. So it's not like we had anyone that needed to be pampered or divas who were talking about their week during shooting. But we had a lot of joke-telling and it was great to have the girls come into that and tell some raunchy jokes or funny jokes.
We were all pretty cool. No one's burping or farting or talking about girls or guys in any unpleasant manner. We were just like a good family, anything you would talk about with your family, you know.
Cool, hip girls talk about boobs sometimes.
Oh no, we definitely talked about boobs, don't get me wrong there. Whose are bigger, I mean, it's quite ridiculous when they're like, "Kellan, your boobs are bigger than all of ours" and I'm like "What?!"
Are they?
Is that a compliment or a diss? [Laughs] I don't know, I haven't seen their boobs. But no, we just joke around. There's camaraderie.
