Today, the Official Illustrated Movie Companion and the Official Score for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 have both finally hit shelves.
The Companion offers, as usual, behind-the-scenes glimpses at the production of Breaking Dawn - Part 1, interviews with the cast and filmmakers, and a whole bunch of new stills.
Some of those new stills have made way to the web, so you can check those out in the slideshow attachment.
Here are a few thoughts on those.
First up, a still frame image of "Bella" (Kristen Stewart) and "Jacob" (Taylor Lautner) sharing their little dance in the yard was included in the publication. It was definitely a sweet moment, no? Next, there's a great shot of the pre-wedding nightmare "Bella" had about the demise of her family and friends. This picture just shows the carnage of that moment in full reveal, doesn't it?
Third is a gorgeous new still of "Bella," "Edward" (Robert Pattinson), "Charlie" (Billy Burke), and "Esme" (Elizabeth Reaser) at their table during the toasts. Everyone looks so happy and lovely in this photo. Then, there's a fun still of "Edward" after the delivery scene, in which he looks ready to pounce on the incoming wolves. It's when he says, "I won't let them hurt my family," and boy does he look ready to make good on that statement here.
The fifth is a great shot of "Bella" and "Charlie" as they say their goodbyes after the wedding. This aspect of Breaking Dawn - Part 1 was definitely touching. Then, there's a behind-the-scenes still from the moment when "Jacob" is warming up "Bella," while "Edward" again must sit by unable to help. Notice the green screen in the background of this one. The "Cullen House" shots were all done in the studio at Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The seventh new still shows "Bella" and "Edward" on their honeymoon, just as he's about to launch them both off a cliff into the waters below. That was a fun moment in the film, not just because it was sweet, but also it showed some of the capability "Edward" has a vampire. It's something we hadn't seen on display in a while, so it was nice for the filmmakers to bring that into play in this scene.
The eighth shot, of "Rosalie" (Nikki Reed), "Bella," and "Edward" is a very likeable one because it shows "Rosalie" standing guard over "Bella," as she does in this installment to the Saga. She really does look like a wall between "Bella" and "Edward," and you can also see that "Edward's" wardrobe has begun to resort back to the dark, sullen look he had inTwilight here.
The ninth shot is of "Jacob" pleading with "Bella" to re-think her decision to sacrifice herself for the infant. As someone on Twitter pointed out, you can see the trip t-shirts quilt beside her in this one.
Finally, there's an excellent shot of "Bella," all emaciated and weak, the effect for which was done by the visual effects team for Breaking Dawn - Part 1 - and done well at that. She looks positively horrifying. Then, in the last one, you see her newborn eyes opened and her lovely face put back together again.
Definitely leaves us hanging for what's to come in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, right?
There are tons of other stills and behind-the-scenes shots in the Part 1 Companion, so be sure to get your copy on shelves today!
