The actor will play a Dexter The controversial filmmaker in the CBS drama, according to TVLine.
The character will find yourself in legal trouble while his documentary about suicide inspires a young girl supposed to do with his life.
Campbell plays Brian Moser, the Ice Truck Killer, Dexter in the first season and returns for a cameo in the recent sixth season.
He also appeared in such films as The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part I and The Hurt Locker in 2008.
