Do you love writing or reading Twilight fan fiction? Are there fan fic authors that you would love to meet in person or a reader whose reviews touch you so much that you wish you could discuss your story with them? Well, there’s an event coming up for you.
From June 8-10, Twilight fan fiction authors and readers are gathering at the Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for what has been dubbed as the Twific Meetup. The weekend’s events are scheduled to include discussion groups, Q&A, writing workshops, games, a “Twilight” watch along, possibly an opening day screening of “Bel Ami,” and plenty of socializing.
The inspiration for this gathering came from a few friends discussing on twitter how fun it had been to meet up at Comic Con and how great it would be to have a gathering specifically for the Twific fandom.
“When einfach_mich said ‘Hey, who wants to help lead this thing?’ I jumped at the chance,” said Amanda, a.k.a theswandive, one of the Meetup organizers. “I might have scared aleighy a little with my enthusiasm. There were a lot of shouty caps and exclamation marks.”
Amanda also added, “The opportunity not only to talk fanfic with like-minded people, but to meet them in person was more than enough motivation for me. After a few meetings we sorted out responsibilities, and got lots of help starting up the website from fellow talented fandomers like heartherdawn, LustLikeTequila and ltlerhqak . It’s been crazy, but so far, a lot of fun. I’m really excited for June.”
Lead by aleighy, theswandive , and coldplaywhore with assistance from einfach_mich and noverbalfilter , almost 150 Twific writers and readers have signed up for the event to date and there’s still room for more.
You have until April 15th to sign up and pay dues – an affordable $55 that covers the cost of meeting space, a catered lunch and administrative costs. A special hotel room rate is available at the Monte Carlo and also you can find participants looking for roommates on the Meetup’s website.
