The 18-year-old “Now Is Good” actress arrived at the Mandarian Oriental Ballroom in NYC wearing a lago-blue cotone double high waist skirt with a cropped v-neck top from the Spring 2012 collection by Miu Miu. This was the perfect little dress on her, and it was an even better fit on Dakota’s frame than on the catwalk model! She ran the risk of the light color washing out her fair complexion, and if this dress was one shade lighter, that’s exactly what would have happened.
While she showed off her bare shoulders during the carpet photos, Dakota had actually just removed a bright red cotone double velvet ribbon-tied capelet from the collection that was giving me Little Red Riding Hood vibes.
You know, minus the hood.
I actually love the cape on Dakota — which is surprising considering I wasn’t the biggest fan of this detail on the runway. I think the look would have translated better with the cape if she had one other red complimenting detail — such as a minaudière. Dakota carried a silver paillette clutch.
She completed her look by adding an appliqued headband to her straight blonde tresses and wore nude pointed toe Mary-Jane pumps from Prada‘s Spring 2012 collection.
