Roiff was recently quoted in a New Hampshire Film & Television Office press release saying that “there are a lot of states that try to lure you with promises of tax incentives and the like, but the reality is that being film-friendly is about much more than that — and New Hampshire really defines film-friendly.” He swore to us Thursday that the comment was no slight to Massachusetts, which is known for its big tax incentives for filmmaker.

Roiff says he loves it down here, and that even though it made more sense to film in New Hampshire this time, he hopes to eventually shoot a movie closer to his hometown. After all, not only did he grow up in Brookline, but he went to Harvard, where he was involved with the Hasty Pudding Theatricals and roasted Drew Barrymore in 2001.

“I would love to shoot in Boston,” he said. “I love Boston.”

“In Your Eyes” is described by the state’s film office as “a metaphysical love story about two seemingly polar opposites who are deeply connected in ways neither could have ever imagined.” It stars up-and-coming actress Zoe Kazan, of “Bored to Death,” and Mark Feuerstein, who most people know from the show “Royal Pains.” “Dirty Dancing”’sJennifer Grey also has a role as one of the main character’s neighbors in the film, and “Twilight”’s Nikki Reed will join the cast this week on the West Coast.

Roiff said there would be no time for an East Coast wrap party, but he would have some down time before heading back West.

“I get to see my family,” he said, beaming.

Roiff’s past film credits include the Keri Russell film “Waitress” and the more recent “Save the Date,” which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and stars “The New Girl” and “True Blood”’s Lizzy Caplan and “Community” and “Mad Men”’s Alison Brie.
