First Reactions About #Cosmopolis Trailer!

Empire: While it’s not quite as gonzo as the short version, the new trailer still provides more questions than answers, which is totally as it should be.
Total Film: Seems like David Cronenberg is back to doing what he does best – creating sublimely weird nightmares and slipping them into the arena of mainstream cinema. It also looks like a peach of a role for Pattinson, who’s set to shake off his tween pin-up credentials as the film’s increasingly deranged protagonist.
Furious Cinema: Cronenberg revisits subjects that fascinate him: how the organic and the psychological are inextricably intertwined, society’s anxieties and phobias, and letting repressed impulses and paranoia run wild. COSMOPOLIS is a culmination of his masterpieces that addresses the alarming global financial crisis of today’s world.
BleedingCool: Adapted from Don DeLillo’s novel, and starring Robert Pattinson in a perhaps completely incidental headline-grabbing fashion, this looks like the kind of lean, perverse futurism that Cronenberg has excelled at.
XavierPop: This second trailer is quite a bit more graphic, which I fully endorse…It really gives a sense of just how far the movie is going and just how extreme Cronenberg is pushing the boundaries.
Indiewire/ThePlaylist: It’s going to be a freaky time on the Croisette…the most promising non-”Twilight” role forRobert Pattinson yet as the billionaire Eric Packer who has one helluva day in his limousine. Sex, drugs, hallucinations and more cross his path, and for anyone worried Cronenberg had become respectable with “A Dangerous Method” he’s in full form here, even going back to his psycho-sexual roots in what looks like something out of a Terry Gilliam film inspired by an LSD trip.
AltFilmGuide: As expected, considering that this is a David Cronenberg movie, the Cosmopolis trailer looks great, Pattinson looks and sounds flawless in the role of the billionaire whose universe is about to be radically rearranged…
ScreenCrush: The images on screen – from the parade sequence to Pattinson doing damage to himself – seem to come straight from the world of early Cronenberg, that dark twisted Canuck who made horror films that were as cerebral as they were visceral.
CinemaBlend: Like many of you, my mind was blown back in March when the first trailer for David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis arrived online. Since then I’ve been desperately craving to see more from the movie, and sadly the new images that came out one week later just weren’t enough. But tonight is the night: we finally have the first feature length trailer. Coming to us courtesy of Allocine (via ROS), the new preview is just as awesome as the teaser trailer and has the added benefit of being nearly four times as long.
PunchDrunkCritics: If you thought last month’s teaser was crazy, then prepare to be blown away.
FilmStageThis trailer expands on the mind-bending bits found in the first, with a great look at what will certainly be Pattinson’s meatiest role yet. I love the imagery Cronenberg is playing with, as it looks to be something straight out of one of his 80s/early 90s classics.
HitFix: I was personally no fan of Cronenberg’s last film, which hit the fall festival circuit. At all. But with this trailer it looks like he’s back in the pocket I like. I mean, it’s about a rich dude (Robert Pattinson) taking his limo across town to get a haircut. Co-starring are Jay Baruchel, Paul Giamatti, Kevin Durand, Juliette Binoche and Samantha Morton, so obviously the cast stacks up. And I’m eager for Pattinson to break free of the “Twilight” shackles.
CriterionCornerThis looks too amazing to be a real thing, and i think i can say with some certainty that Cronenberg and co. didn’t play it safe this time around (do they ever?).
FirstShowingThis looks wild, Cronenberg back with more debauchery.
ExperienceFilm: I’m excited to see what Pattinson can do in a major role that isn’t broody vampire-y. The film looks pretty captivating.
