ICYMI Somewhere: The Host by Stephanie Meyer - Review

guardian. Set in a world where aliens - Souls - have taken control of Earth and now live inside the bodies of humans, any humans that remain are hiding and hunted by Souls known as Seekers.

'The Host' is the life of a Soul called Wanderer who upon her arrival is inserted into the body of a captured human, Melanie. With memories of Melanie's lover Jared tormenting her, Wanderer cannot help but love this man she has never known.
The attention of Seekers upon him force the two to become un-welcomed allies as they race to save a man they both love, unintentionally finding themselves and hidden truths along the way.
It appears on the surface to be a simple idea but the complexity is hidden in the compelling dialogue, breath-taking scenes and beautiful sorrow that runs throughout. Despite the gut reaction to support and favour the human, it is impossible for any reader not to fall in love with the gentle nature of Wanderer, so fantastically portrayed.
Meyer's creation of these uniquely individual characters is stunning and captivating and this, combined with a truly beautiful storyline, can only begin to explain why this is, without doubt, a favourite of mine that I will never forget and will always read.
A book well-deserving of an honoured place on the shelf of any book lover whether or not they enjoy science-fiction, as it cannot be so crudely defined as it branches across many genres effortlessly.
If I could award it more than 5 stars, I would!  tnxs  twilightitalianmoms
