Kellan Lutz on ‘BD 2′ and Graduating With Emmett Cullen + Why Covets “50 Shades of Grey” Role

“It does feel like we’re graduating high school,” Lutz told Celebuzz at the launch of iD gum in New York on Wednesday.
Over the last five years, the 27-year-old has grown up with his Twilightcharacter, Emmet Cullen. With the release of the last installment of the wildly popular series – The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 —approaching, Lutz revealed that although he’s excited for what’s ahead, he’s going to miss Emmett.
What did the star say?
“It’s definitely bittersweet now that Twilight’s coming to an end,” Lutz tell us. “It’s been such a blessing to be a part of it. I love my character. I wish I could play my character Emmett in every movie going forward. And I will — I’ll take parts of him with me, as we all do, when I create backstories for different characters.”
Kellan Lutz is ready to jump from one franchise into another.
Photobucketokmagazine The affable actor, 27, who plays Edward (Robert Pattinson)’s adopted brother Emmett in the Twilight series, has been shortlisted for a role in the E.L. James erotic thriller that has captured the imaginations of women worldwide.
But first, he has to study up to learn whether he prefers to play wealthy businessman Christian Grey or his adopted brother, Elliot.
“I haven’t read the books,” he confesses this week during the iD gum launch event held in NYC. “I give it all to the fans. They’ve told me ‘you’ve got to be Elliot.’ I think that’s his name. I did some research, and that would be a fun role. I mean, it’s very similar. They told me he’s [got] blonde hair, light eyes, big build and young at heart.”
He adds, “It seems very easy, and very much like my Emmett character. If they want me, I would love to entertain it, and I probably should read the books. It would be fun.”
Luckily, he’s not shy about baring his bod.
“I started modeling, and when I did my Calvin Klein ad, I wasn’t embarrassed. I was more proud. That doesn’t really bother me. We all have bodies!”
Hm, does he prefer to show off his muscles?
“It’s not that I’m happy or into my body. Look, your body’s always going to fluctuate. Right now, I’m probably the skinniest I’ve ever been. I haven’t had time to go to the gym, eat right. I’ve never been on a diet per se, but your body fluctuates.”
He continues, “I just love who I am. I can’t complain, really. I’m healthy, and I’m able to be active.”
Kellan sees another potential bonus in taking on a role in 50 Shades of Grey.
“Hopefully I’ll book a movie where I get a trainer again. That would be great!”

Parade As Twilight's Emmett Cullen, Kellan Lutz is accustomed to fans monitoring— and weighing in on— his every move.
But according the the actor, the attention can be helpful. Case in point: the online push  for him to play either Christian or his brother Elliot Grey in the film adaptation of the racy bestseller Fifty Shades of Grey

PARADE spoke to the Lutz while he was in New York helping launch the teenage-geared id Gum about the casting rumors, what he was like in high school, and on starring  in the modern version of Tarzan

On his teen years.
"I loved jumping from trees. I grew up in the Midwest and Tarzan was really near and dear to my heart. I was pyro. I loved being outdoors."

On his version of Tarzan.

"It's very modern. We have black hawk helicopters. We deal with family issues. Its a huge movie. It's going to look big. As an actor, [Twilight] is a blessing and allows you to be more choosy. You get tons of projects sent to you and you don't have time to read it all. But I have a great team. They know I want to be a jet fighter or boxer or He-Man, Hercules, Flash, Aquaman— characters you want to spend time with. But Tarzan was at the top of my list."

Will he wear a loin cloth?
"[Laughs] No. For my audition, I wore a wig and walked in my underwear but I didn't know it was going to be motion capture!"

On the 50 Shades rumors.
"I've been hearing about that! I haven't read the books; I need to though. The fans saw similarities between Emmett and Elliot. I don't know much about either. I know Christian is the lead but that's why I didn't want to play Edward [Cullen, in Twilight]. He wasn't really like me. I'll trust the fans."
