Kristen Stewart’s Stylist Spills #MetGala Secrets
KRISTEN STEWART had her Met Ball outfit fittings with Stella McCartney via Skype, revealed her stylist, Tara Swennen. The Vogue cover girl attended the annual fashion gala with the British designer, wearing a red lace jumpsuit.
vogue.co.uk "We started about a month before by figuring out who they were going with. We loved the idea of Stella McCartney for Kristen because she hasn't gone with a girl before, so we were having a girl power moment," explained Swennen. "We did our fitting via Skype with Stella. It was really fun to do that, and they're good friends and have met before in London, so that was really nice. That was just to make sure every nip and tuck was done properly. She had a representative from LA and a tailor that we both used."
Swennen has worked with Stewart since she was 14, and is responsible for the styling of all her red carpet outfits. She explained that this year's Met Ball look was very much an organic and collaborative effort between the designer, stylist and actress.
"With Kristen, we went over the sketches via email - and it was a unanimous decision that we really liked the jumpsuit. Stella had given us the option of doing it in black or green and the cranberry red colour that we ended up going with," said Swennen. "Kristen went back and forth between the red and the green - and we just decided that we loved it. Her hair is a little bit reddish now, so we thought it would complement it well. [Kristen] was very involved, which was great - she really enjoyed that. She loved the idea of slipping her hand in her pocket. She could be part of the design process."
The stylist added that this year's theme - Punk: Chaos to Couture - was perfect for her rebellious 23-year-old client.
"The pantsuit was definitely her interpretation of punk," she said. "I knew a lot of [the look] would be about hair and make-up, since Kristen doesn't accessorise that much - so it had to be in the outfit as well as the beauty. Kristen doesn't have her ears pierced or anything so I tried to add a studded heel for a little bit of punk edge."
Stewart has previously attended the Met Ball with Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler and, most recently, Nicolas Ghesquière for Balenciaga - with Swennen having a hand in styling each look. via socialitelife
