New/Old Kristen Interview with ELLE

Exclusive: Why Kristen Stewart got cornrows
ELLE Last year ELLE interviewed Kristen Stewart, and being a beauty interview the discussion naturally turned to hair. Back then she told us that her next experimental hairstyle would be cornrows, the exact hairstyle she debuted at the Sundance film festival this weekend,

You see Stewart isn’t afraid of experimenting with her hair for the sake of her art, 'I’m pretty much open to anything – if I really loved the part I’d do anything. You know, hair grows, relatively speaking it doesn’t take that long in exchange for a good experience so I think it’s worth it,”' she told ELLE UK. 'I’ve been blonde, dark, I’ve had reddish hair, short, long. I run the gamut, you know”'.
Despite her dedication to the cause, in her own time she prefers low-commitment styles that aren’t so try-hard. 'Last year everyone started shaving the side of their head. I’m shooting for a couple of days in New York but then at the end of November I’m done for the year. I’m going to get a couple of tight cornrows put in. It almost gives the impression of no hair so I’m stoked about that,' said the star. 'I think a shaved head is a little forced, but the cornrows gives you the effect without the commitment.'

Update Added Transcription Kellan Lutz interview in "Elle" (Scan)

Photobucket Elle When Kellan Lutz appeared as a god inImmortals, it was practically typecasting. He’s just an absurd specimen. Born in North Dakota, Lutz started modeling in high school—segueing from local catalogs to Bruce Weber shoots for Abercrombie & Fitch. Acting was the next logical step, and he’s made the most of his somewhat modest screen time in the Twilight megafranchise, now concluding with Breaking Dawn—Part 2. (Lutz, 27, plays Emmett, the protective older-brother type to Robert Pattinson’s Edward.) He smartly parlayed the worldwide freak-out over the vampire series into a high-profile Calvin Klein underwear campaign and front-row seats at fashion week. Next up? He’ll play Tarzan on the big screen, naturally. But don’t judge a book by its loincloth (which isn’t part of the costume, he swears). While Lutz’s shirtless Venice Beach workouts are chronicled by TMZ daily, he wants you to know he’s a churchgoing romantic and a one-woman guy. Below, the undead speaks.
ELLE: When Twilight first hit, you joked that your mother’s friends were proposing marriage to you. But what was that sudden attention really like?
Kellan Lutz: You feel like a deer in headlights. Like, What is going on? I’d been working for years prior, just booking jobs. I was totally fine doing that. I never wanted to be famous.
ELLE: Can you tell when a girl is interested in Kellan Lutz, and when she just wants to date the guy from Twilight?
KL: I’ve been blessed with a good head on my shoulders and quite a good ability of discernment. I can see through people. I have more people lying to me today than I’ve ever had in my life. I don’t think I’ve changed one bit. The world’s changed.
ELLE: Why do women respond so strongly to Twilight?
KL: Everyone wants their Edward. They want that man who’ll fight for them. I just finished reading Redeeming Love. Do you know that book?
ELLE: No, what’s it about?
KL: It’s about a guy who goes after a prostitute. He takes her out of the brothel and wants to marry her. He loves her unconditionally. But she keeps on feeling like she’s unworthy. I’ve dated someone like that, too. They want the good guys, but once they get the good guy they don’t feel like they’re good enough.
ELLE: What’s the most romantic thing you’ve done to impress a woman?
KL: When I was in sixth grade, I’d go to the dollar store to get this girl, Kelsey, gifts. I read in some magazine that girls love gifts. I’d get a couple pieces of candy, a rose. I loved being Romeo to her Juliet. Then I got her this “gold” necklace from the dollar store. How was I supposed to know there’s fake gold? She found out I’d gotten it at the dollar store—and she got mad at me. And I was trying to do the most romantic thing I’d ever done!
ELLE: I understand you carry journals with you, and that you write down wisdom you’ve learned.
KL: Yeah, you want me to pull them out real quick?
ELLE: Sure. Would you share a piece of wisdom about women?
KL: Women. Let me see. [Flipping pages] Here’s one: A lack of communication leaves fear and doubt.
ELLE: Is there anything you’d do differently about your first time?
KL: Um, no.
ELLE: Really? It went exactly as planned?
KL: Yeah. I mean, it was in high school—with the love of my life, at the time. It wasn’t one of those drunk moments at a party. Everything was just really caring and done out of love. It was one of those really sweet, loving, connected moments.
ELLE: If I got all the women you’ve ever dated on the phone and asked them to agree on something about you, what would they say?
KL: [Laughs] I’ll keep it PG-13….
ELLE: Nice.
KL: They’d say, “He really did love me and treated me with respect.” My mother instilled that in me.
ELLE: Have you ever been intimidated by a woman?
KL: No. I’ve been very much intrigued by and impressed with women. But I’ve never been intimidated. Even if I make a fool of myself, it’s better to have tried. I love Wayne Gretzky’s quote “You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.”
ELLE: I heard you have a life plan—you want to settle down in Denver and have three children: two boys and one girl.
KL: I’ve had dreams about them.
ELLE: Does your girlfriend, Sharni Vinson—from Step Up 3D—know about these dreams?
KL: She’s actually had similar dreams.
ELLE: Your parents divorced when you were very young. Does that give you a different outlook on marriage?
KL: People fall out of love, or get married for the wrong reasons. People change. The older generation—they got married and had a kid when they were 20. How do you know who you are when you’re 20?
ELLE: I heard you’re a spiritual person.
KL: I have a Bible study that my friends and I go to here in L.A. I go to church every Sunday. I’ve always been a believer. I love singing. I don’t have the best voice—I just love getting my emotions out.
ELLE: You briefly studied chemical engineering in college. Do women underestimate you?
KL: Yeah. They think, He has blond hair, blue eyes, he’s a big, fit guy—he’s probably not the sharpest tool in the shed.
ELLE: Is there a time you remember a girl misjudging you?
KL: In Miami, we were chatting about the Mayan calendar. This girl was just throwing stuff out there, and I pressed her on a few things. She was dumbfounded. I’m like, I wasn’t trying to prove you wrong….
ELLE: Doesn’t the Mayan calendar say the world is going to end this month?
KL: [Laughs] Not for me.

etonline Robert Pattinson met Uma Thurman on the set of 2012's Bel Ami and last night, a very nervous Pattinson honored the Oscar nominee at Elle Magazine's Women in Hollywood Awards.
"This is very, very terrifying," he laughed at the outset of his speech. "I'm only doing this for Uma." Pattinson went on to list the myriad of Thurman's accomplishments and how her dazzling personality has imbued every role with charm, wit and strength. "She's incredibly funny and has a fierce intelligence that always manages to find depth in the characters she plays," he said.
Thurman later took the stage to thunderous applause. "I'm so honored to be honored," she laughed before calling Pattinson, "A real gentleman, on and off the screen."
The actress then talked about life as a new mother in Hollywood. "There are many unexpected benefits of having a newborn when you're working in this business," she said. "Or should I say, there can be an upside to not working. For example, when you're home nursing a new baby [and] wondering if you'll ever work again, you actually get to watch movies -- wait for it -- and enjoy them! You can step back and look at your colleagues and recognize their talent and creativity. It's time really well spent."
