GKids will release an English-language version of the acclaimed animated French film next year

TheWrap Forest Whitaker and Mackenzie Foy (“Twilight: Breaking Dawn”) are set to voice the two leads in the English-language version of the animated French film “Ernest & Celestine,” multiple individuals familiar with the project have told TheWrap.

GKids is releasing both version of “Ernest & Celestine” in the U.S.

The French version will receive a qualifying run for awards consideration later this year in Los Angeles, while a dubbed version for U.S. audiences will hit theaters next year.

Story explores the unique friendship between a bear named Ernest (Whitaker) and a mouse named Celestine (Foy).

Lambert Wilson and Pauline Brunner voice the characters in the French version of the film, while additional voice cast for the American version will be announced later.

“Ernest & Celestine,” which will compete for an Oscar nomination with entries from Pixar and DreamWorks Animation, was written by Daniel Pennac and directed by Stephane Aubier, Vincent Patar and Benjamin Renner.

Whitaker is expected to have a major presence on the awards circuit this year. Not only did he give a critically acclaimed performance in “Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” but he also produced Ryan Coogler’s well-reviewed “Fruitvale Station.” Whitaker also co-stars in Relativity’s “Out of the Furnace” and Fox Searchlight’s “Black Nativity.” He’s repped by WME, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Ziffren, Brittenham.

Foy, who is best known for playing Renesmee in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn,” recently starred in James Wan’s hit horror film “The Conjuring.” She is currently filming Christopher Nolan’s highly-anticipated sci-fi movie “Interstellar” and will soon be seen in the indie “Plastic Jesus.” She’s repped by Coast to Coast Talent, manager Christopher Rockwell and attorney Derek Kroeger.

Description It is 1940 and Jack Cardinal, an award-winning writer, is killed in a car accident, leaving behind his precocious daughter, Lou Cardinal, her younger and very timid brother, Oz Cardinal, and an emotionally traumatized and catatonic mother, Amanda Cardinal. They move from New York City to a small farm in southwest Virginia to live with their great-grandmother Louisa Mae Cardinal, a strong and independent woman. Here Lou will realize her life-long ambition to become a writer like her father, but she will also come to learn about her roots and past tragedies that kept her father from ever returning to the place that provided the inspiration for his novels. Lou will come to learn of enormous sacrifice, the value of good friends, the battle between corporate interests and the sanctity of the land, and whether someone can truly wish another well. In essence, Lou will become who she is in a place she believed she could never truly belong.

Mackenzie Foy: "'The Conjuring" Trailer + Wondercon Panel Recap (Poster)

collider The Conjuring, opening July 19th, stars Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor, Joey King and Mackenzie Foy.
Two clips were screened for the audience:

  • The first clip followed Lili Taylor’s character Carolyn playing a game of hide-and-seek with her daughter, with the creepy tone that Wan is known for on display. After establishing the “clap, clap” motif seen in the most recent trailer, Carolyn is then led on a late-night journey throughout the house, lured by unexplained events like picture frames crashing to the ground and doors opening mysteriously.  The claps lead her into the basement where the lights go out and she’s forced to light a match.  Those in the audience who hadn’t seen the scary moment in the teaser trailer had quite the great reaction
  • The second clip centered on the kids, Christine and Nancy, who were asleep in their beds until something woke them up.  Christine freaks the audience out by doing things that she shouldn’t, like looking under the bed…twice, and very slowly.  Then the older sister Nancy investigates at Christine’s insistence that something is lurking in the shadows behind the door.

Both clips elicited a lot of great responses from the audience and a fair amount of nervous laughter and chatter. Check more at source

(Article) USA Today On BD2 with Mackenzie Foy + Scan tnxs @epnebelle

"The young star plays a pivotal role as a half-vampire, half-human child of Edward and Bella Cullen.

In the new film, Foy's role is expanded from her brief turn in Part 1, playing a young half-bloodsucker who grows rapidly. "One hour she'll be an infant and the next she'll be a toddler," says Foy, whose face was transposed onto younger body doubles through CGI.

Foy had fun on set, from riding a furry mechanical bull (meant to be Jacob the werewolf) to keeping a swear jar for her older stars and donating the proceeds to St. Jude's hospital. "Some of them paid me in advance," she said, laughing. Although Stewart, "did say a couple bad words, I'm not gonna lie," Foy describes Stewart, who guards her character ferociously in the film, as a " best friend-sister-mom all combined."
Plus, she got some cool downtime with the cast. "I heard Kristen play her trumpet," she says, laughing. "Rob got her a trumpet and you could hear in the hotel."
The chatty, friendly young actress recently saw a Starbucks fall pin-drop quiet when she walked in, but sweetly shrugs off all the attention she's receiving. Her friends treat her normally, she says, and the home-schooled actress is still having fun off-screen painting, kicking butt as a junior black belt in tae kwon do, and baking her own birthday cakes, a tradition she loves.
Born and raised just outside of Los Angeles, Foy's parents, a homemaker and truck driver, had no connections to the entertainment industry. Spotted at a dance recital at age 3, Foy soon began booking print jobs modeling, followed by commercials and TV shows. Breaking Dawn -- Part 1 was her first film.
As a parting gift, Foy got to take her character's dragonfly pin with her. "It's pretty special," she says. (She left a few behind, too. Foy estimates she lost five baby teeth over the course of the two-year production.)
Next projects including horror flick The Conjuring opposite Vera Farmiga. But could there could be more to the story of Jacob and Renesmee (as author Stephenie Meyer has teased)? "I think it'd be fun to come back to Renesmee and see what her life is beyond what Part 2 ends with," says Foy. "I think it would just be cool to see where her life takes her."
