# Sundance2014 (Mtv) Anna Kendrick "Happy Christmas" Interview and about "Into The Woods"

Anna Kendrick & Bill Hader Respond To Sundance Yeti Rumors

MTV When MTV News spoke with Kendrick at the Sundance Film Festival, where she was promoting her new movie "Happy Christmas," she described encounters with two uber-famous actors, Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep.

While she didn't get to see Depp sing, Kendrick did meet him — and his "famous force field" — in the recording studio.
"I didn't see Johnny sing. I met him in the recording studio and ran away from him because he's that kind of famous that you're like, 'Oh my God. I'm repelled,' " she said. "It's like 'You have a famous force field.' He's obviously incredibly sweet, but I was like, 'I should not be in this room.' "

Kendrick did manage to catch queen of the Academy Awards Meryl Streep belting on the set, which was apparently worth a large sum of cash.

"I got to be on set for watching Meryl sing 'Last Midnight,' which is her kind of swan song, I guess. It was so intense," Kendrick said. "James Corden, who is in that scene with me pointed out that you could auction off watching Meryl Streep sing 'Last Midnight' and raise so much money. We just got to be there. We're just the goons who got to be in the room, which was incredible."

The experience on the set of a big-budget musical like "Into the Woods" was the polar opposite to what Kendrick went through on "Happy Christmas," which was an indie in every sense of the word.

"Joe [Swanberg] texted me the day after we wrapped 'Drinking Buddies' about making this movie, and I was immediately and completely on board. This one was different in that we had even less money, believe it or not. But that was really fun," she said. "We were shooting on film, so all the money was really for that. We shot it in his house. Everybody wore their own clothes and did their own hair and makeup.... It made 'Drinking Buddies' feel like it was 'Mission: Impossible 5.' "

"Into the Woods" is scheduled to open in theaters on December 25.

collider BURBANK, Calif. (Sept. 16, 2013) – Disney’s “Into the Woods” kicked off production last week, featuring an award-winning production team and all-star ensemble cast. Rob Marshall, the talented filmmaker behind the Academy Award®-winning musical “Chicago” and Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” helms the film, which is based on the Tony®-winning original musical by James Lapine, who also penned the screenplay, and legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, who provides the music and lyrics—including an all-new song for the big-screen adaptation. “Into the Woods” is produced by Marshall, John DeLuca, “Wicked” producer Marc Platt and Callum McDougall. Shooting in studio and on location throughout England, the film is slated for a December 25, 2014, holiday release.

“Into the Woods” is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel—all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them.

The all-star ensemble cast includes:

·         Meryl Streep (“The Iron Lady,” “The Devil Wears Prada,” “August: Osage County”) portrays the Witch who wishes to reverse a curse so that her beauty may be restored.

·         Emily Blunt (“Looper,” “The Young Victoria,” “The Devil Wears Prada”) is the Baker’s Wife, a childless woman who longs to be a mother.

·         James Corden (Broadway’s “One Man, Two Guvnors,” “The Three Musketeers,” “Gavin & Stacey”) plays the role of the Baker, a hard-working man who desperately wants to start a family.

·         Anna Kendrick (“Pitch Perfect,” “Up in the Air”) fills the shoes of Cinderella, who finds herself on a journey of self-discovery.

·         Chris Pine (“Star Trek Into Darkness,” “Jack Ryan”) portrays Cinderella’s Prince, charming and impossibly handsome, who is on an endless quest to find his bride.

·         Johnny Depp (“Pirates of the Caribbean” films, “The Lone Ranger,” “Sweeney Todd”) steps in as the Wolf, who sets his sights on Little Red Riding Hood. More at source

Anna Kendrick in Talks to Play Cinderella in Disney's 'Into the Woods' - Broadway musical

Anna Kendrick in Talks to Play Cinderella in Disney's 'Into the Woods'

photo 6-GD_zps28e914db.jpgTHR Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, and Chris Pine are among those in negotiations for roles in the adaptation of the Broadway musical.

Anna Kendrick is in talks to play Cinderella in Into the Woods, Disney’s adaptation of the Broadway musical being directed by Rob Marshall.

The project has attracted Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal, James Corden, Emily Blunt, Tracy Ullman and Christine Baranski, all of whom are in various stages of negotiations to be part of the production.

The play is a darkly comic mashup of classic fairy tales that revolves around a childless baker (Corden) and his wife (Blunt), who attempt to lift a family curse by journeying into the woods to confront the witch that put the spell on them. Along the way, they encounter a group of characters including Rapunzel, Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood.
In Woods, Cinderella is married to a vain prince (Pine) and described as a woman trying to find her place in the world.
If a deal is made with Kendrick, it will bring the actress back into the screen singing spotlight; she belted a few tunes in last year’s surprise hit Pitch Perfect. Kendrick has, however, been acting in Broadway musicals from a young age and won several awards.
Kendrick is currently shooting The Last 5 Years, Richard LaGravenese’s adaptation of the musical.
