The Yellow Handkerchief Review ! May Contain Spoilers!

imagebam.com

Normally I have to see a movie twice before I right a review but I found this movie so moving that only seeing it once causes me to tear up. The film is a beautiful menagerie of captivating love stories.

Kristen plays young Martine who goes on a road trip with Gordy a aquward guy in love with Martine. Afraid to go on the road trip alone with Gordy they pick up another passenger, a older man driving through town.

First thing I thought was why would you pick up a strange man and let him drive to New Orleans with you. what if hes a stalker or a mass murder.

On the road trip they Martine and Brett( the older man) bond. He tells her stories of a women he was in love with( played by Maria Bello).

During a evening at a local hotel things go sour when Gordy tries to take advantage of Martine. Brett hearing the screams comes to her rescue and separates the pair, giving up his hotel bed so she can sleep safe and sound. At this point in the film its obvious that Brett has grown attached to Martine ( in a non sexual way) He is protective of her and sees her as a friend.

At one point he gives her advice and advice's her to take it easy on Gordy. Hes young and naive and he is eager he tells her.

After getting pulled over by the cops for speeding Martine and Gordy find out that Brett has been harboring a secret. They find out that he was in jail for 6 years for man slaughter.

At this point it isnt good. Both Martine and Gordy have been helping a murder and without thinking the pair offer him a drive once he is released.

As they drive to New Orleans after being jailed. Brett explains . He was in love with a women ( maria bello ) there relationship was complicated and not always easy. They fought a lot. Then she found out she was pregnant and after a small doctors visit reveals more then he knew Brett is a little shocked. Shocked he heads to the bar where she hunts him down and confronts him. Creating a scene, yelling and screaming.

Outside the bar Brett pinned her against the wall. She screamed let go. A man passing by assumes that Brett was trying to hurt her or worse. So he intrudes. Telling Brett to back off and leave her alone. Brett slightly drunk punches him, he falls and dies. Unintentionally.

However after his death Brett was hauled off to jail. Not long after did he file for divorce. Devastated she stayed in New Orleans.

After much cheering and coaxing from both Martine and Gordy he finally decides to find his true love.

Their bittersweet reunion will bring tears to your eyes as you watch their face light up when they see each other the first time.

Meanwhile Martine starts to see the good in Gordy and realizes that its not to late to give him a shot.

Backed up with incredible acting his movie will move you. Kristen Stewarts dedication to the character , right down to the accent will impress you. This movie has a big heart and is definitively a must see of the year.

My Rating 7/ 10

German article about Kristen and The Yellow Handkerchief on bild.de

The vampire-bride for ARD-witching hour

The Twilight star stars on Sunday in “The Yellow Handkerchief” (ARD 11.30PM)

Shortly before midnight, the witching hour, the ARD shows a cinema gem on Sunday - with "Twilight" vampire-star Kristen Stewart (21).

A tear of happiness from the eye of the viewer surfs when her film "The Yellow Handkerchief" (11.30PM) has his happy ending.

“Long before Twilight made me famous”, says Kristen Stewart (21), “the Hollywood legend Arthur Cohn gave me the chance to play a demanding role. I will never forget him that.”

Because on Sunday on the ARD, Stewart plays how she really is: dreamy, vulnerable, sassy, freedom loving, independent.

Who hugs Kristen Stewart, touches a shy deer (1.68 m). She has defiant, questioning, smiling, emerald eyes. She drives an old Toyota, has 3 dogs, surfs, is single.

She smells like freshly mowed grass (hair spray), she doesn’t like perfume.

She googles her name - 71 million hits! "I have to see what is going on - I'm a control freak. But it's crazy! It's scary what it says! An incredible amount of crap!"

BILD: What annoys you?

Stewart: That many people think that I'm ungrateful, conceited, arrogant.

BILD: How are you really?

Stewart: I'm quite normal. Ownership is not important to me. I don’t understand the excitement about me. It is just a hype. Millions of people love Bella from Twilight. But I'm not Bella. I just play her!

She wears "vintage fashion" (Second-hand look), an old gentleman's wristwatch and a Buddhist desire band.

The Twilight Saga is a billion dollar phenomenon – she became a multimillionaire. "The Yellow Handkerchief" is a romantic road movie.

Three people, three fates, three happy endings: A man is released from prison - Oscar-star William Hurt (61, "Robin Hood", etc.). He hitchhikes with a shy geek and a mysterious girl (Kristen Stewart) to New Orleans – to look for the love of his life.

Kristen was discovered at 8. At 11, she plays with her role model Jodie Foster ("Panic Room"). She loves her guitar, her jeans, her mother, her Vans shoes - and cigarettes.

Arthur Cohn told BILD: "Every girl in the world loves it to identify with her.“

On Sunday before midnight, we'll see why ...

I tried to translate it as best as I could.

Kristen Stewart’s “The Yellow Handkerchief” now showing in more theaters

By Kim Palacios

Hollywoodnews.com: Fans love Kstew for choosing parts in thought-provoking indies; but, her choice in film projects creates an access problem for fans eager to see her work. Her international mega-stardom alone makes it difficult for fans around the world to see even widely-distributed works like the Twilight films in a timely fashion. But, even U.S. fans have experienced narrow access to much of her indie work.

Take “The Yellow Handkerchief”. It first released at Sundance in January 2008. Subsequent releases (e.g., the San Francisco International Film Festival in May 2008, the Middle Eastern International Film Festival in October 2008, etc.) were a painfully slow burn. Festival circuit screenings culminated in a Los Angeles Theater release in December of 2008, nearly a year after its initial screening. Fast forward to 2010. Some 28 months following its initial release, “The Yellow Handkerchief” (amazingly) continues to add theaters to its list!

The good news for fans is that, if they live in a smaller city (like Boise, Idaho, Denver, Colorado, Kansas City, Missouri, or Columbus, Ohio, where the film is now playing) the film seems to be making its rounds. Now that it has swept some of the larger coastal U.S. cities, it seems to be trickling inward throughout the country.

Yet, in this day and age of instant gratification and on demand video, it’s been more than a bit frustrating to fans in areas outside the distribution path. A glance at the Amazon.com page for “The Yellow Handkerchief” offers little solace. The DVD is not only not available; no release date has been named.

thanks! Hollywoodnews

New/Old Yellow Handkerchief interview : Kristen & Eddie

It may be a bit jarring to see Kristen Stewart so far away from Forks, but at least her new co-star is best friends with Rob Pattinson! Eddie Redmayne and Kristen team up in The Yellow Handkerchief, a film about a road trip through post-Katrina New Orleans. In the movie, Kristen hops in a car with two strangers... and the rest you'll just have to see for yourself!

gURL: What made you want to play this part?
Kristen: When I read the script, it was one of those things that you get really excited about and then instantly really sick because you're not sure that you've got the part. I was sort of undeniably emotionally moved by it and I think just regarding the person that I played, she makes such a comeback. I feel like in the beginning she's so clearly disappointed in everything around her and that first time you see her she's rejected and that's what she's running from.

gURL: You guys must have spent a lot of time in the car. Any funny stories from filming?
Eddie:[For the scene] when we hit the [deer], we had a load of crew in the back with lights and all this stuff. And I had to do this screeching break as we hit this thing and I was like, "Be careful because I am screeching this car..."
Kristen: Again and again you said it.
Eddie: "...It's gonna be quite a jolt when we stop." And they said "No problem, man, no problem." And we did the scene and they cut to me and I break the car and I scream and this guy got all bruised out of the back! And I'm like, "I told you man, I told you."

Have you learned anything interesting about each other since you spent so much time together?
Kristen: There's nothing interesting to learn about this guy.
Eddie: There's nothing interesting to learn about her.
