Twilight Spotlight 

 Dakota proved she was all grown up at the Twilight New Moon premiere in this to-die-for lace cocktail dress by Valentino. One word: WOW! Kristen’s darkly dramatic Marchesa dress ensured all eyes on her when she stepped onto the Twilight Eclipse red carpet in Italy.

Winner: Kristen just out-vamped the vamp on this occasion.

Heavy Metal 

She’s only 15, but showing style way ahead of her years, Dakota wowed The Runaways LA premiere in this glittering, metallic Valentino number, complete with on-trend sheer panelling.  Kristen topped off her on-trend gold and silver Dolce & Gabbana mini dress with eye-catching turquoise blue nails.


Winner:  Dakota’s blend of 'ultra-girly' and 'edgy' just trumps Kristen’s metallic offering.

Bright And Beautiful 

Dakota accentuated her icy blue eyes with a bright, bold shot of cornflower satin in this stylish, asymmetric number for the 2009 People's Choice Awards. K-Stew gave her otherwise muted outfit a splash of bold colour with this zingy lemon mini, perfectly matched with a slinky grey tee and classic black shoe-boots.

Winner:  Dakota’s dress is undeniably pretty, but we love Kristen’s simple styling.

The Statement Jacket 

Dakota looks every inch the stylish teen in this loose, leopard print tee and military jacket at The Runaways photocall in LA. Rock n roll!
Kristen wore this tough-girl leather jacket on the red carpet.

Winner: Dakota’s easy style tops Kristen’s questionable trews.

Rock Chic

At The Runaways premiere after party, Dakota changed into this too-cool-for-school tee and statement jacket combo, teamed with black skinnies and studded heels. K-Stew flaunted her rock credentials at a fan event in 2008, teaming a cool, preppy jacket with a statement tee, cropped trews and her trusty Converse.


Winner: You gotta love Kristen’s love of Converse.

Pretty In Pink 

Dakota looked sugary sweet in this peachy-pink, bubble-hemmed mini dress at the Coraline premiere last year. In fact, she even wore it to her high school prom! K-Stew gave her über-feminine, hot pink Doo-Ri dress an edge with slicked-back locks and black nails at The Runaways premiere in LA.

Winner:  Dakota looks adorable but Kristen’s fuchsia Doo-Ri dress is to-die-for.

All White

Dakota couldn’t have been more princess-like in this to-die-for lace Marchesa dress. The starlet completed the fairytale with a dainty bejewelled Alice band and peep-toe heels. Kristen turned heads in this crystallised, one-shoulder Elie Saab Couture number at LA premiere of Twilight Eclipse.


Winner: It was close, but we got serious style envy the second we clapped our eyes on Kristen’s edgy couture.

Teen Dream 

Dakota’s strapless, prom-style dress and glitzy gold heels look princess-perfect, whilst the icy-blue hue is so flattering against her pale complexion. Kristen Looking dainty and delicate in this dreamy J. Mendel dress and Sergio Rossi shoes.

Winner: Kristen looks every inch the Teen Dream in her über-desirable gown.

Off-Duty 

Dakota gives us a masterclass in easy chic - it's all about the accessories - sensibly teaming her slouchy sweater and skinnies combo with this luxe Alexander Wang bag and retro wedges. Kristen prefers a grungy, slouchy style - opting for torn jeans, vintage trainers and a loose shirt with obligatory sunnies.

Winner: Dakota’s offy-duty dressing is simple but oh-so-chic.

The Lady Is A Vamp 

Dakota does ‘edgy’ with a slinky, inky black mini dress and fierce heels for her turn on the Jay Leno show. K-Stew dropped jaws in this asymmetric, carbon black mini dress with sheer panelling that flaunted her enviable pins. 

Winner: We adore Dakota’s heels, but Kristen’s mini would take some beating.

Winter Chic 

Dakota goes ‘tough-girl’ with biker boots and a black puffa. And is that a Bowie tee we spy? K-Stew braves the snow with this tailored winter coat over a hoodie, skinnies and vintage Converse combo.

Winner: Dakota gives us a masterclass in winter rock chic.

BREAKING DAWN “Apparently” to Be Shot in Rio

It remains unclear whether Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, to be directed by Bill Condon, and starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, will be shot in Rio de Janeiro, where Bella and Edward spend their fateful honeymoon.
The problem, or at least the chief problem is reportedly tied to security issues in that city and the homonymous state in which it’s located.
The latest on that from RioFilme’s director/president Sérgio Sá Leitão  in a tweet dated Sept. 6, is that Breaking Dawn will "apparently" be shot in Rio, "though that hasn’t been confirmed, yet."

'The Runaways' Review By 'Film News'

Kristen Stewart stars in a lively 1970s biopic about the all-girl American band. By Peter Bradshaw

The time passes; the seasons turn, summer turns to autumn and now Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart are playing rock chicks. And doing it pretty convincingly, what’s more – Stewart, at any rate. This is the interestingly low-key, unhappy story of the Runaways, the 70s all-girl band led by blonde singer Cherie Currie (Fanning), with Joan Jett (Stewart) providing lead guitar and rock’n'roll attitude. With her clump of black hair, leather jacket and high-waisted, flat-fronted blue denims, Kirsten Stewart has an eerie resemblance to Jett and when, in one scene, she takes her top off facing away from the camera, her back looks as broad and muscular as a weightlifter’s.

In 1975, Jett finds herself hanging out at the English Disco in Los Angeles, where the kids are getting into David Bowie and glam rock and getting off on Do You Wanna Touch Me. Maybe period drama is now the only acceptable context for remembering Gary Glitter. Here Jett meets the bullying, mercurial record producer Kim Fowley, played by Michael Shannon, a bizarre figure who combines dandyish hair and fluttering mannerisms with boorish, bullying heterosexuality. He likes the idea of a girl band, and seeing Cherie hanging out by the bar, recruits her solely on the basis of her moody Bardot chops. Soon he is pitilessly drilling the band and getting local guys to throw beer cans at them, just to toughen them up.

The film, from Italian music video director Floria Sigismondi, interestingly shows how the aggressive girl-band both grew out of the English androgynous rock scene and was a reaction against it. Fowley sometimes affects to be irritated by these limp, fey mascara’d limeys, demanding that the Runaways show some balls. Yet it was the pioneering gender-bending glam-rockers who somehow created the circumstances for an in-your-face female rock band, making an incursion into the macho rock’n'roll world.

Art Linson is the co-producer of this engaging, small-scale film; he is the author of the Hollywood memoir What Just Happened? (later filmed with Robert De Niro) in which he recounts the agony of seeing much-cherished projects getting buried or neglected by the studio: one of these was Sunset Strip (2000), his 1970s rock movie which died a box office death.

Maybe The Runaways is Linson’s way of showing that he can make a success of this subject, and I think he has done, with a film which shows how brutal and sexist rock’n'roll is. There are some cliches (drugs on tour, montage showing the band climbing up the charts) and perhaps Fanning looks a little fragile, but the film interestingly and sympathetically shows the human cost to Jett and Currie, who could never quite be sure if they had reached the promised land of stardom or not.
