"The Runaways", "Thirteen" and "Pitch Perfect" between "40 Greatest Female Movie" by @totalfilm

40 Greatest Female Double-Acts  Here come the girls:

22 Beca and Amy - Pitch Perfect (2012)
Why We Love Them: In an all-female a capella group there's ample room for great movie friendships, but it's leading lady Beca's partnership with self-titled Fat Amy that really grabs your attention.

One's an edgy DJ, the other's... well, the other's Fat Amy, and Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson are brilliant together, providing almost all of the movie's laughs.

They say: "I thought that was a really beautiful thing to look around at all these girls and know that they’re my co-workers and my friends and that we’re in it for each other," Anna Kendrick.

27 - Tracy and Evie - Thirteen (2003)

Why We Love Them: It's a dark, twisted friendship, but one that's familiar to almost every teenage girl.

Bad girl Evie appears in Tracy's life like a very cool, very dangerous bolt of lightening. It might all end badly, but actresses Nikki Reed and Evan Rachel Wood are an almost hypnotic duo.

They say: “I don’t know if 13 year olds should see this without someone there...” says Nikki Reed.

37 - Joan Jett and Cherie Currie - The Runaways (2010)

Why We Love Them: The first ladies of rock and roll got a cinematic makeover in this biopic. Joan and Cherie were an electrifying duo onstage, and their movie versions were no different, thanks to stellar performances from Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning.

They say: "I made it a very early decision that the story was going to be about Cherie and Joan…so that was a conscious effort, you know, to...make it more personal on the two of them and their relationship," said Director Floria Sigismondi.

Q&A with @joanjett answers Kristen question in #TheRunaways

What was it like to work with Kristen Stewart when she portrayed you? Do you think she did a good job in her role of you?
[–]JoanJett_Joan Jett[S]
I do think she did a good job. I think she was extremely dedicated to it, chopped all her hair off and really immersed herself in everything she could find about the Runaways and I helped her find some things, told her some things that I had never told anybody ever, not even for the book, how you function in life or what I was thinking at the time to give her insight into myself and my family.
All of the actors did the best that they could with what they had, and it's a great story and it should be told. For me as the artist, you always wish that they would choose something more substantial than showing a tiff. But beyond that I thought they did a really good job.

And she really played guitar too! Which helped. So I could discuss how I play the guitar, how I hold the guitar, the way I stand. A lot of things I didn't realize I was doing until I saw her onscreen and realized oh my god I do that stuff. She noticed that, and picked up on it before I ever would have. Little things that people don't notice, but I guess if you're a good actor you do.

Michael Shannon On #TheRunaways & Kristen In New Interview

 photo the_runaways05.jpg

filmschoolrejects  For The Runaways was it beneficial Kim is still around?
Yeah. The first day of shooting that I was involved with, Kristen Stewart said, “If you want to sit down with Kim Fowley then I can arrange it.” I said, “That would be great.” So Kristen and Joan Jett and myself and Kim Fowley met at a Denny’s in The Valley. We had dinner together. And Kim brought his albums…not his vinyl albums, but his photo albums and his newspaper clippings and all this stuff and he told, basically, his life story to me from the time he was a child to where he was at sitting across from me at that table. Yeah, it was incredible. It’s kind of a blur. I can’t say I remember a lot about it. He was talking very fast. I know he was sick as a child. But his parents were all right.

But anyway, I had that experience. And I didn’t have that with Richard. But I think it would have been a very different experience. I don’t imagine Klukinsky being very happy to see an actor trying to portray him. I can’t imagine. He would probably take one look at me and think I was a total sissy.

photo 022410joanjett3.jpg [Laughs] Is it a very different feeling when you are portraying period versus a more modern day piece like Mud?
Yeah, although you always depend on the design elements to inspire you or get you to the right place in your mind. But yeah, I mean I don’t know. Every job is different. I haven’t found any uniformity, really. I mean there’s similarities but there’s not uniformity. Even period pieces, like doing the ‘70s in The Iceman was very different from doing the ‘70s in The Runaways. It wasn’t like just because they were both in the ‘70s they were similar, because the environments were so different and the characters were so different. But doing period work definitely offers you a greater opportunity to escape yourself.

Which is what you look for, I imagine.
Well, yeah. The game is always to disappear as much as possible.

Joan Jett on Kristen and "The Runaways" movie -

Joan Jett on Kristen and The Runaways movie - "I thought it definitely gave you a sense of what it was like to be in the band," she says of the film. "The actors did an amazing job with the script they had. Having been in the band, of course, I'm gonna feel that way too much is left out and that you don't really get a true sense of everything we went through. But you couldn't really tell the full story, I think, in whatever it was, an hour and a half."
She actually hung out on the set and worked with Stewart.
"I had a few gigs that kept me away for maybe four days," Jett says. "But other than that, I was there and watching with a monitor and headphones. I was there to be a tool for Kristen, anything that she needed to know about me or about the band."

Translated by Translation.com
The singer is in the country for the first time in April at the festival Lollapalooza in Sao Paulo and during an interview with the RS Brazil she commented on the film that tells the story of his band and on the performance of Kristen Stewart. The history of The Runaways was shown in 2010 in the movie 'The Runaways' - Girls of Rock, starring Kristen Stewart in the role of Joan Jett ( "She was extraordinary, it was great to work with her," says the artist, who served as executive producer of the film) and Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie. For Joan, the principal merit of long was to present the band for the new generation. "I think that showed the many girls who did not know. AND I think it was one of the reasons why Kristen decided to make the film", says.
