Dakota Fanning's Pink Hair: A retrospective.
pink ladies
Dakota joins a long line of really rosy babes.
When Dakota Fanning was caught by paparazzi rocking pink-tipped hair, she joined a tradition of Pink Ladies that starts with a 1999 cover of NYLON Magazine. In the issue, Gwen Stefani poses with pink pigtails on the cover, shot by Terry Richardson. This season, we saw our cover girl, Dianna Agron, streak her hair with highlighter colors for the new season of Glee. (She was playing "a skank" but looked pretty, anyway.) We did an entire beauty spread on pink-tinged hair. Dani Stahl and Sarah Lewitinn both arrived in the office with pink hair (Dani's was bright and rich, Sarah's was washed-out and bleached).
And now Dakota, looking adorable but also a little bit knowing, with her hair the color of LipSmackers strawberry gloss.

What Excites 100 Monkeys? Funk Rock Sensation Uses HzO WaterBlock™ at Sundance Film Festival
Los Angeles funk rock band 100 Monkeys delighted audiences at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, with their hybrid blues and 60s rock sound while using amazing WaterBlock™ technology by HzO to allow electronics to operate underwater.
Playing songs from albums Liquid Zoo and Alive and Kickin, the band—which is known for improvising a song based on audience participation in every performance—made history by asking attendees at their exclusive show inside the Fender Music Lodge to text their suggestions to tablets and smartphones that had been submerged in water for hours. WaterBlock™, a proprietary technology that invisibly seals electronics from the inside out, protected the tablets and smartphones.
The devices have no mechanical wraps or cases, no spray-on exterior treatment, no plasma coatings, no expensive seals, “O” rings and plugs. The New York Times called WaterBlock™ “the most astonishing” technology at the recently concluded International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. ABC hailed it as “technology at its best.” And the CES itself awarded HzO its Innovation Design and Engineering Award.
“No more running from the rain,” said Jackson Rathbone, lead singer of 100 Monkeys, showing off the WaterBlock™ phones to a packed house. “This technology is not only going to revolutionize the way we listen to music, it’s going to change the way it’s played. We’ll never fear the water again.”
“HzO is a game changer. There is no other technology like this anywhere,” said Paul Clayson, president and chief executive of HzO. “WaterBlock™ completely seals electronics at the molecular level without affecting the aesthetics or weight of the device. You don’t even know it’s there. The sealant is non-toxic and inert to salts, acids, and other corrosives. It withstands temperature extremes and does not cause electronic devices to retain heat. WaterBlock™ is also effective on flexible components, such as ribbon cables and connectors.”

Sundance: "Filly Brown" Team Sets Jake Hoffman And Nikki Reed For "Snap"
EXCLUSIVE: Fresh off the Sundance premiere of their hip-hop film Filly Brown, Cima Productions has set a March 26 start date for Snap, a psychological thriller set in the world of underground dubstep. Jake Hoffman (Barney’s Version) will play a brilliant but painfully introverted musician who develops a crush on a young social worker. Twilight Saga‘s Nikki Reed will play that role.
While she is initially drawn in by Jim’s musical genius, his inner demons spiral out of control when the romance fizzles, wiith shocking and tragic results. The script was written by Filly Brown producer Victor Teran. He will co-direct with his Cima partner and Filly Brown co-helmer Youssef Delara. Cima founding partner Amir Delara will produce, and Kevin Smith, an exec producer on Filly Brown, will be exec producer of Snap along with Generate’s Jeremy Platt.
“We’re extremely blessed that, after our amazing experience with Gina Rodriguez on Filly, we get to continue working with more brilliant young actors like Jake and Nikki,” Delara said. Teran said their hope is to return to 2013 Sundance with the finished film. “We can’t imagine a better place for us to continue introducing our work to audiences,” Teran said.

MTV's article about Cosmopolis winning MTV Movie Brawl 2012
The final buzzer has sounded, the brawl for it all is over, and Robert Pattinson is the last man standing: "Cosmopolis" has won MTV Movie Brawl 2012.
His indie drama made for one hell of a Cinderella story in the vote-driven tournament to pick the must-see movie of the year. Entering the bracket as a #4 seed (following an impressive showing in the play-in round), "Cosmopolis" appeared to be facing an unavoidable Elite Eight ouster. What were the chances Pattinson's cerebral film about a young finance wiz taking a day-long limo ride though New York City would beat "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2"? Apparently pretty good. Fans banded together, choosing to support RPattz's post-vampire career rather than the franchise that made him a star. "Breaking Dawn" was sent packing.
And so, after easily fighting off "The Dark Knight Rises,"
"Cosmopolis" came to face "The Hunger Games," a brand-new franchise that had waltzed through the tournament and seemed to be the odds-on favorite to win the whole tourney. But it was not to be. After more than 3 million votes and a slew of lead changes, Pattinson's film beat back Jennifer Lawrence's series to become the undisputed champion of the Movie Brawl.
Hours before voting closed Monday afternoon (January 23), with "Cosmopolis" staking out an insurmountable lead and the MTV Movies team at the Sundance Film Festival, we broke the news to Pattinson's co-star, Paul Giamatti, that their film had won the tournament.
"Holy cow, that's astounding!" he said. "The fact of that is amazing. ... That's a really cool thing that it brings that visibility to that movie."
It's been a whirlwind few weeks in the tournament, so we'd like to thank all the fans who voted. The Brawl broke bigger than we could have ever hoped. Well over 5 million votes were cast. The competition spread wildly over Twitter and Facebook. Our comments sections caught fire as fans debated, argued and rallied. In the end, though, only one film could stand as the undisputed champion of the MTV Movie Brawl. Pattinson, Giamatti, director David Cronenberg and everyone connected to "Cosmopolis" — we salute you!
