Is ‘Twilight’ to Blame for Comic Con Ticketing Fail?
Comic-Con tickets officially went on sale today and for fanboys (and girls) everywhere, the race to get tickets has begun. So many people were trying to get tickets, in fact, that the online ticketing system crashed earlier this morning. According to the LA Times.
Minutes before the 9 a.m. Saturday start, the site was telling users that it was “currently over capacity” and to try again momentarily. Some buyers saw a page saying, “We’ll be right back. TicketLeap is currently down for maintenance.”
It was a stressful kickoff for what is sure to be a fun event in July… if you are a dork. Oh come on now. Don’t get your Superman underoos in a bunch. I am just kidding around. Sort of.
This year’s Comic-Con in San Diego (not to be confused with the New York one) will run July 21-24 and there are many creative explanations on social media today from fans frustrated by the ticketing fail. Here are some:
One tweet, from shaylrose, said: “freaking Twilight girls invading”
Most of the users seem to blame Robert Pattinson, or at least the movie he stars in. Twilight and its presence in the past at the event was the main reason people seemed to think the servers were over capacity.
Another from HiImRichard: “Just trembled in fear that the majority of people crashing the servers might be Twilight freaks. #shudder #comiccon #fail #twilightsucks”
AnitaWhat also blamed Twilight: “Idea for smoother #ComicCon registration. Give twilight its own convention somewhere as crazy as their fans. Like Egypt”
This kind of anger is not surprising, of course. Old school fanboy types are not especially supportive of the invasion of screaming teenage girls (probably because these are the girls who rejected them socially in high school). But Twilight was not the only theory being thrown around…

Kristen Stewart's "On the Road" Stills Make E! Online's "Week in Pictures"

What a week for gorgeous people getting gorgeously photographed.
We got shots of Kristen Stewart going all Beat Generation for her role in On the Road, Angelina Jolie's man Brad Pitt looking hunky while heading through an airport and our favorite funnylady Tina Fey glammed up nicely for the Screen Actor's Guild awards.

Bitch-Back Saturday: All About Robsten
Dear Ted:
I’m just wondering what really happened with Michael Angaranoand Kristen Stewart, did she really dump Michael for Robert? And I really don’t know how they (Rob and Kris) fell in love with each other. And my lastquestion is when they fell in love?

Dear Antsy Robsten Lover:
Million-dollar question, baby, as to exactly when. But have you notseen Twilight or something? If you didn’t fall in love with your costar after filming such sexually tense scenes I would think there was something severely wrong with your sex drive. You can’t fight chemistry, even if you’re Michael Angarano. He’s old news, and Kris has moved on to better and yummier things. Believe me, Rob has nothing, and no one, to worry about. Especially if he’s seen this.

Dear Ted:
At the risk of creating an angry mob I have to ask: Is it possible to make it through one Bitch-Back with no Twilight-related questions? I know people have different tastes, but the overexposure is killing me.

Dear Twi-Hard Enabler:
While I totally want to high-five you for proposing such a fab idea, you just did it yourself. Is your question not Twilight-related? It’s like the plague. Plus, you love to hate it, let’s be real.

Dear Ted:
Why would everyone think that Nikki Reed and Robert Pattinson have hooked up? For me, they were just buddies who have a few commonalities, and she said a million times that Rob is like a brother for her, and she used to go out a few times with Michael Angarano, and Kristen would have neverdated her BFF’s ex.

Dear Loyalty over Loving:
It wasn’t serious. And the thing is, as much as the Twi-hards love them their Robsten, they love to stir the pot and see if they can triangulate some more Twilight drama to satisfy their needs. Is it impossible for everyone (except Robsten, of course) to just be friends at this point? Also, it’s about time everyone ditched this Angarano business. Who cares? Especially since K.Stew doesn’t!

Dear Ted:
So you mentioned that Kristen Stewart hooked up with someone else besides our boy Robbie in the horny Twi-verse. Would said hookup be a recurring character in all five movies, or would he have maybe debuted in New Moon?? By the by, I think you are just fan-freaking-tastic!

Dear Hornball:
Thanks, sugar! But please, you think Kristen is that easy? She’s not going to be into any schmuck who comes on the set for an itty-bitty cameo, or even a big role in one of the movies. We all know she’s a big-timer, and so are the people she gets close with.

Lee Pace ‘Can Do Anything,’ Says Max Winkler
MTV: From what we see in the trailer, it looks like we’ll be seeing a more mischievous side of Lee Pace, which is awesome.
Winkler: Lee Pace is like a stone cold master. To me he is King Lear status. He went to Julliard and he can do almost anything. He can do anything. He delivered lines in a way that I never imagined and so much better than I envisioned them in my head, he was unbelievable. He brought a real human quality to this character who might be a bad guy in a different movie but you really feel for him because of what a great actor he is.
French Release Date for OTR Set & is a Screening at Cannes On the Horizon?
With the hoopla of the new OTR stills by French site Paris Match, we overlooked a key mention in the accompanying article: "the French release date is already set for December 7, 2011, but the film is tipped for a move on the Croisette, although the final installation may not be completed by then"
Croisette is the main street in Cannes...hmm, a French site gets the first official stills, the first confirmed release date, could Cannes Film Festival be it's first showcase? :)
The 2011 Cannes Film Festival runs from May 11-22.
So far only the opening night selection has been announced. We shall see!
