"Mooncrazy" teenagers

The vampires Writers Queen gives us an everyday new moon to be seduced by.

November 20 is the last day when the wait is over for millions of fans worldwide. Then the movie New Moon, the second part of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series, has world premiere. The classic vampire genre has had a big update, and although the books criticized for being sexistic as well as poorly written it continues to make quantities of, preferably young girls, fascinated by the story of high school student Bella who falls in love with the vampire Edward. But what is it that makes the new type of vampire literature to such a huge attraction for visiting female readers in puberty?

Fifteen Years old Emma, Amy, and Hanna is planning to see the movie as soon as it goes up in the theatres. Emma Carlsson Axberg have read all four books, three times. They are different from almost all other books. One can dream away. I think it is suitable for those who do not like reality, and  we think: "Oh, I want it to happen to me!"

We can relate to vampires. They also have problems, but not everyday problems. All are beautiful and rich, everything is perfect. Everyone at our school read these books. Her friend Amy Sobovitch agree.

- They are like half fantasy, both real and unreal, as in Harry Potter. That's what makes them so good.

Hanna Nilsson focuses more on the romantic aspect.

- They are so romantic! It is exciting to read about impossible love, it becomes almost a bit disappointed when they get together.

Magnus Stalby, psychologist and psychotherapist with a focus on cognitive behavioral therapy, has himself a great interest in the vampire genre.

- Vampire Slayer 's stereotyped creatures who violate norms and rules, and generally one can say that we are drawn to anything that is forbidden. Horror genre is popular because of its clear duvalism, where the main characters often struggle to balance his human side with the predators that they have within themselves.

Magnus Stalby think it is precisely because books that indirectly deals with sex and violence will tempt us to read. But it is also about escapism. Vampires are forced to play people. Similarly, teenagers feel that they are outside society and struggling to fit in. You want to feel you belong to a social class, that you're being seen and loved, which can sometimes feel difficult.

Maria Larsson, scholars researching the pornographic film, believes that vampires can be associated with sexual urges. On her blog, she interprets the film version of the series' first book, Twilight as a
film that is primarily about sex. The theme, she says, is abstinence versus desires. She insists that the intreset for the films may have to do with that theres room, even for girls' strong sexual feelings.
