Mtv: Fernandez On Edward Cullen 'Twilight' Audition: 'I Didn't Realize I Was Missing Out On Stardom'
Robert Pattinson who? Sure, it's hard to imagine anyone else in the role of our favorite sexy "Twilight" vamp, but looking at these steamy photos of almost-Edward Cullen Shiloh Fernandez, it's hard not to wonder what if. The 25-year-old "Skateland" star is featured in the upcoming issue of VMAN magazine on stands February 10, and he dished all about the "Twilight" role that got away.
"No one had any idea what 'Twilight' would become," Shiloh explained. "At the time, it was just another audition. I didn't realize I was missing out on stardom and giant paychecks." Yet, the actor is self-aware enough to admit that starring in one of the world's biggest phenomenons may not have suited him. "Now, looking back on it, I certainly wouldn't have been mentally stable enough to deal with all that," he said. "Lucky for me, not getting that part led to other work that was a much better fit for me."
Indeed, Shiloh must have impressed "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke with his audition because she cast him in her upcoming gothic fairytale "Red Riding Hood" co-starring Amanda Seyfried. "Catherine has created this world that's so detailed and so beautiful. I loved being a part of it," he said.
Following "Red Riding Hood," Shiloh will rock a feathered 'do and roller skates in the '80s coming-of-age tale "Skateland" opposite "Twilight" star Ashley Greene. Having already seen an advanced screening of the period flick, we have a sneaking suspicion Shiloh's earnest demeanor and dark good looks may just secure him the title of Hollywood's Next Big Thing.
