‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ Shows Off Armor and Attitude One great thing about WonderCon is that you don’t have to walk far. Most of the blockbuster film panels were held back to back in the same ballroom at the Anaheim Convention Center including “Snow White and the Huntsman.” In this modern take of the Grimm Brothers classic, Snow White, played by Twilight’s Kristen Stewart, dons armor and attitude to battle the wicked Queen (Charlize Theron) and her shadow army. Although the original premise is intact, the preview showed what looked like a mash-up of the crusades with gleaming armies of knights clashing in epic battles. One guy standing next to me along the wall said that he’d definitely see this with his girlfriend and probably wouldn’t be bored, which would make director Rupert Sanders happy. Saunders told moderator Ben Lyons that he wanted Snow White to have a universal appeal that would connect with both young men and women. Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart joined the panel shortly afterward and asked what they were most proud of. Stewart started by saying that she was most proud of Saunders’ direction. A saucy Theron, fresh out of the “Prometheus” panel, said that she liked f—- with the idea that most people had of the Queen. She’d later respond to an audience member who remarked how good Theron was at playing evil characters by saying, “that’s because I’m a bitch!”
Chris Hemsworth, who plays the huntsman, was also scheduled to be on the panel but could not attend. Saunders was asked to “be Hemsworth” instead by Theron but the director admitted that he didn’t have the body to be Hemsworth. He then talked up Hemsworth as being one of those rare male actors that can do the action sequences and fighting while having an intuitively emotional sense. One audience member would later ask why Saunders didn’t hire real “little people” to play the seven dwarves. The actors were digitally shrunken. Saunders joked by saying that director Tarsem Singh got all of them for his movie, referencing “Mirror Mirror” another film based on Snow White that’s slated for release at the end of the month. The highlight of the panel was the debut of a 5-minute trailer that begins with the Queen’s military conquests and her discovery that she is not the fairest in the land.
She captures Snow White who eventually escapes into the Dark Forest where she encounters many beautifully rendered CG creatures.
The Queen dispatches the Huntsman to track her, but Snow White is able to charm her executioner who agrees to train Snow White to fight.

MTV "The director, Rupert, conjured up visuals that absolutely transported you somewhere else and it wasn't at all what I expected," Stewart says. The big-screen retelling revolves around the feud between Queen Ravenna (Theron) and the inherently good Snow White (Stewart). "The Queen really symbolizes death and Snow White is the beating heart," the director says of the struggle between the two leading ladies. "This is an incredible opportunity to create a world that people have never seen before."
Theron also talks about facing off with Stewart in another behind-the-scenes clip.
"As on outsider, I see her for all the things the audience will, but as an insider playing her I had to not think about those things," she explains. "Ravenna and Snow White are bound, in a way," Stewart explains. "She can level you," she added about Theron's performance as the queen.
A trailer will drop Monday during "The Voice" with an extended scene also hitting the Net that same day. In a new trailer sneak peek, the backstory is teased as Ravenna makes clear her intentions to kill Snow White. The film opens June 1. Hemsworth plays the Huntsman hired by the Queen to kill Snow and Sam Claflin rounds out the main cast as Prince Charming.
