ICYMI: Camelot Canceled No Season 2!

imagebam.com

Starz has decided to cancel their Camelot TV series after one season. While the ratings weren’t bad for the Arthurian show, the numbers aren’t necessarily the whole reason why there won’t be a second season.

Camelot, as you might have guessed, is based on the legend of King Arthur. The series stars Jamie Campbell Bower as a young King Arthur, with Joseph Fiennes as Merlin, Eva Green as Morgan, and Tamsin Egerton as Guinevere.

The premiere attracted 1.1 million viewers with a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That marked the cable channel’s most-watched and highest-rated original series premiere to date. Unfortunately, the second installment dropped 24% in total viewership and subsequent episodes dropped even further. Still, by the end of the season, the ratings were on an upswing. The finale nearly matching the viewership of the premiere.

While Camelot may have ordinarily ended up getting a renewal from Starz, the ratings weren’t the only factor in play.
A statement from a Starz representative notes, “Due to significant production challenges, Starz has decided not to exercise the option for subsequent seasons of Camelot with our production partners GK-tv, Octagon Films and Take 5 Productions.” Deadline reports that some of those “challenges” included scheduling conflicts with some of the actors.

Camelot Season 1 Finale Review! CONTAINS SPOILERS

imagebam.com

Sadly Tonight marks the end of the first season of Camelot. The series has been great so far with the romance between Arthur and Guinevere stirring. While Arthur's sister Morgan plots.

In this episode Arthur is forced to fend for his life. Ive been watching the series since the beginning. I've seen most episodes ( I admit I missed a few episodes). Ive watched the characters develop and I have watched Jamie develop into this character.

This episode was the most intense episode yet. Arthur is forced to flee from the castle and fend for his life. After Morgan sends a group of men to kill her brother Covered in blood and cuts, tired and worn down. Arthur and his few friends he has left manage to find the courage to fight. What they don't see is the one archer they missed. The archer quickly turns around and shoots Leontes. Leontes one of Arthur's close friend ans mate doesn't live. Meanwhile back at the castle word of Arthur's supposed death reaches Morgan. Morgan in her own selfishness plots to take over the crown.

Morgan stabs Igraine ( Arthur's mother) so she can take the crown as her own. Shortly after defeating the men Arthur returns Leontes body to Guinevere and returns home to find that not long after Arthur's rumored death Morgan took the crown. Arthur confronts Morgan and she strongly denies it . Morgans friend takes the blame sentencing herself to death.

Merlin finds Queen Igraine bleeding and close to death.

This series constantly surprises me. With its twists and turns and plots. Ive seen all of Jamie's movie and this performance impressed me the most and when he cried after Leontes died i almost cried. This series is so good. Now that Leontes is dead will Guinevere and Arthur be together ? Will Queen Igraine survive? Can Arthur Keep the crown or will Morgan reign?

I really hope there is a season 2 in the works. IF there is information will be posted.

Camelot’s Eva Green mentions co-star Jamie Campbell Bower in an interview.

Jamie Campbell Bower is playing King Arthur in the upcoming Starz TV series Camelot, and his co-star Eva Green mentioned his “naughty” side in a recent interview with Collider.

Q: What is it like to work with both Joseph Fiennes and Jamie Campbell Bower? What is the difference in dynamic between the two actors and how did they enrich your performance?

GREEN: I’ve always wanted to work with Joe. He’s a very charismatic, powerful actor. He has a very strong presence. Even if he doesn’t talk, he’s extremely powerful. He’s done so much stage work, and I love the fact that he’s a very different Merlin. He’s also quite damaged. He’s not the Merlin with the pointy hat and the white beard. He’s a sexy Merlin. It’s interesting. And, I see Jamie more like my little brother. He’s so much fun. He’s very naughty. He’s wonderful. He’s nice to be around, and he’s very rock ‘n’ roll. He doesn’t take himself seriously and he’s very humble. I think he will go very far.
