Anna Kendrick not going, but there will be an Oscar surprise for 'Twilight' fans!
As for this year, Anna Kendrick recused herself from the list of those who'll be attending, saying "I couldn’t really handle it. It was enough last year being a nominee."
As you already know, both Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have touched down in Vancouver, British Columbia to pick up filming for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, so that rules them out for Sunday's events.
No word yet on whether Taylor Lautner or any other Twilightstar will be there, but at least one producer from the Oscars has spoken to the issue of Twilight fans' interest in the show.
In the attached video, at the 2:00 mark, Bruce Cohen states, "Hey folks, if you are a Twilight fan . . . For all of you Twi-Hards out there, we have a little surprise for you in our show on Sunday night . . . if you like those three films, I have three words for you: watch the Oscars."
No doubt, many shall. The Academy Awards take place on Sunday, February 27th at 8:00 p.m. One of the co-hosts for the event is James Franco, who, you might recall, is an outspoken Twilight enthusiast. There's even a connection between his post as host and his former interest in portraying a Breaking Dawn character (see here). It should be interesting to see what they drum up for this! (Note that Bruce Cohen is the same guy who brought Franco on board for the job.)

MTV’s Wish List: Where Are The Young Oscar Presenters?
There’s only a week and a half left until the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, and slowly but surely the Academy continues to add more presenters to its lineup. Last year some of our favorites like Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Zac Efron and Miley Cyrus were tapped to hand out awards, but so far this year Hollywood’s hottest young actors have been noticeably absent from the list.
Robert Pattinson: Last year Kristen and Taylor got to present, so it’s only fair that Robert Pattinson get his turn again this year, especially since his “Water for Elephants” costar Reese will be presenting as well.

2011 Best Supporting Actress Oscar Contenders: Kristen Stewart?
Kristen Stewart, "Welcome to the Rileys"
Pro: She gives a strong and sympathetic performance as a young hooker who agrees to try and turn her life around under the guidance of a visiting salesman (James Gandolfini). She also gave a pretty great turn as Joan Jett in "The Runaways" earlier this year and has an impressive resume that has built up goodwill with roles in "Into the Wild," "The Yellow Handkerchief" and "Adventureland."
Con: The problem is the movie's distributor may not send out screeners (a big need for this one) and there's that "Twilight Saga" elephant in the room. She might need that series to be over before she's taken seriously again by the industry.

WTTR likely to be more prominent at the Spirits than the Oscars
“Fine acting from James Gandolfini, Melissa Leo, and Kristen Stewart highlight this drama about the effect that a young runaway has on a married couple. Oscar Chance: This quiet and effective drama was a Sundance success. But it’s likely to be more prominent at the Spirits than the Oscars”

Is Kristen Stewart Oscar Bound?

Kristen Stewart is soaring high on the success of the ‘Twilight’ flicks these days, but the lady’s happy journey is not going to end anytime soon. Kris’ next release ‘Welcome to the Rileys’ is already getting quite rave reviews, primarily her acting. In the film she is a self destructive teenager who is into prostitution. According to many Kristen’s portrayal of the character might just help her to get an Oscar this time.
‘Welcome to the Rileys’ took everyone by surprise after it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Jake Scott the director of the film portrayed Kristen in a new kind of a role; she is a far cry from the Bella Swan of ‘Twilight’ series and even Joan Jett from ‘The Runaways’. MTV has reported that Kristen has been praised for showing her guts to take up such a role at this age and handles it with lots of maturity that makes the audience believe her in the role of a troubled teenage hooker.
Kristen Stewart knows her craft, the thing that has made her famous; the 20year old is carving a niche for herself and has joined the A-listers of Hollywood.

Eclipse Mentioned for Possible Contenders for Oscar's Music Category
[...]However, there was terrific work, particularly the performances, in the Leonardo DiCaprio-Martin Scorsese "Shutter Island" (Paramount), Music Box's "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and Roadside Attractions' "Winter's Bone." Otherwise, there have been strong contributions in various categories like tech/craft/design (everything from Disney's "Alice in Wonderland" to Universal's "Robin Hood") and music (Janet Jackson's tune from Lionsgate's "Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too" and Summit's "Twilight Saga: Eclipse," though the Academy's music branch seems to avoid popular songs).

Will 'Twilight' star Kristen Stewart get a Best Actress Oscar nod?
"Twilight Eclipse" star Kristen Stewart is up (twice) in Sunday's (June 6) MTV Movie Awards Best Kiss category. And she's also the first female to be nominated for Global Superstar, along with her "Twilight Saga" male costars Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson, Johnny Depp and Daniel Radcliffe.
What's next? How about a little thing like a Best Actress Academy Award nomination?
A source involved with Stewart's independent film, "Welcome to the Rileys", which was well received at the Sundance Film Festival, tells The Dish Rag exclusively there could be a Best Actress Oscar campaign planned for Stewart's role as a troubled young stripper/hooker.

Stephen Daldry Possible Breaking Dawn Director
“Having already gone indie with Catherine Hardwicke, polished/commercial with Chris Weitz and genre auteur with David Slade for the franchise’s first three movies, Summit clearly wants a high-end Oscar- prestige filmmaker to handle the fourth picture.
Still, even by those standards, Daldry stands out. He’s been nominated for three Oscars, more than any of the other directors on the short list. In fact, Daldry is the rare filmmaker who’s been nominated for a best directing Oscar for every feature he’s made.
Those credentials make taking on a global teen phenomenon seem unlikely, though there are reasons to think it could work. The director is well-versed in depicting forbidden love (a “Twilight” staple) with “The Reader” and “The Hours.” And he’s adept at themes of family alienation, also a franchise fixture, which ran under “Billy Elliot.” Also, like most of the others, Daldry doesn’t yet have a new film.”
