The biopic recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and focuses on American 1970s all-girl teenage The Runaways.
Twilight star Kristen plays Jett, the band’s co-founder and guitarist in the comin-of-age movie, with Dakota Fanning taking on the role of lead singer Cherie Currie.
Formed in 1975 the influential West Coast glam rock punk band enjoyed huge success in Japan and made five albums and went through various personnel changes before splitting in 1979.
Kristen went all Method for the movie by hanging out and partying with the female rocker and even learned to play guitar left-handed to in a bid to make her portrayal as believable as possible.
Judging by Jett’s reaction, her preparations and attention to detail seems to have paid off.
Speaking about Kristen’s portrayal Jett, who is executive producer on the movie praised the young star who is up for the Orange Rising Star award this month.
The rocker told reporters:“I thought she had a quiet intensity, the physical stuff... just the way we move in space. We shake our legs, our hands are all over. She just studied me, man.”
Speaking about the young star’s transformation she added:”It was amazing. It was surreal. The first time I met her, her hair was still long.
“Then after she finished New Moon, she got it cut and I saw her out in LA for some rehearsals and it was really incredible. We were both laughing a lot because it’s surreal.”
The movie has caused a stir because it sees young co-stars Kristen and Dakota sharing a snog.
