BANFF, AB, Jan. 6, 2012 /CNW/ - More stars than usual will be visible in this iconic destination January 12-15 when dozens of celebrities including; Academy Award Winner Marcia Gay Harden, legendary actor Peter Fonda,supermodel Christie Brinkley and singer songwriter Kenny Loggins, join William Shatner, Alicia Silverstone,Mimi Rogers, Melissa Rivers and Brad Garrett to support the Waterkeeper's Alliance at the 2012 Banff Springs Sport Invitational hosted by Robert F Kennedy and Golden Globe and Emmy Award winning actor Alec Baldwin.
Celebrity actors and athletes including; Emmy Award winner Camryn Manheim, Julia Jones, Amy Acker, former NHL player Mark Messier, 2010 Olympic Silver Medalist Jennifer Heil, and Olympic Hall of Fame inductee Karen Percy- Lowe will compete in toboggan/snowshoe races on Friday and dual giant slalom on Saturday at the famous Sunshine Village Ski Resort. All events take place within very easy walking or skiing distance of the main gondola terminal in Sunshine's upper village. Spectators can watch events from only a few feet away or simply catch the stars enjoying a day of skiing or boarding.
The event will culminate with the Stargazer gala dinner and concert by Michael McDonald at The Fairmont Banff Springs. The Stargazer gala is the only event open to the public.
