Entertainment One Films has come on board to co-finance with Martin Katz’s Prospero Pictures.
Project will be introduced at Cannes by eOne, which will handle worldwide sales and distribution in all media on “Stars,” which will begin in July in Toronto and Los Angeles.
Project has been in development by Cronenberg since 2006. Cronenberg is directing from a script by Bruce Wagner in a story ghost story and an attack on the celebrity-obsessed society of Los Angeles.
The film is produced by Katz together with SBS Productions’ Said Ben Said. Sentient Entertainment’s Renee Tab, Cronenberg’s manager, will exec produce and Integral Films’ Alfred Hurmer is co-producing.
eOne will directly distribute “Maps to the Stars” in the U.S., Canada, the UK and Australia/New Zealand. Benedict Carver of eOne is executive producing and will oversee the film for the studio.
Katz previously collaborated with Cronenberg on”Spider,” “A Dangerous Method” and “Cosmopolis.” Ben Said produced “Carnage” and “Possession” and Tab executive produced “Cosmopolis.”

And longtime Cronenberg producer Martin Katz and his Prospero Pictures shingle are partnering with Entertainment One to finance the indie movie.
Entertainment One Films will handle worldwide sales and distribution, with production on the film to begin in July in Toronto and Los Angeles.
Maps to the Stars marks Prospero’s fourth collaboration with Cronenberg, most recently on A Dangerous Method and Cosmopolis, which also starred Pattinson and Gadon.
The screenplay for Maps to the Stars will be done by Bruce Wagner (Wild Palms), as the indie drama offers a ghost story and critique of celebrity-obsessed society in Los Angeles.
The film is being produced by Katz together and SBS Productions’ Saïd Ben Saïd.
