Empire talks Bel ami and RPattz (there are those screams again)

Robert Pattinson. Pause, wait for the screams to die down. Yes, R-Pattz (or whatever the heck he's called these days) is continuing his non-Twilight career, starring in romantic comedy / drama Bel Ami. And now the likes of Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Christina Ricci are joining the cast.
Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod are co-directing the film, which is adapted from Guy de Maupassant's story.
Pattinson (there are those screams again) is a lad in 1890s Paris who sleeps his way to wealth and celebrity as he climbs the social ladder from humble beginnings.
Though we're sure Pattinson will be the main draw for a lot of people, Holly Grainger, Philip Glenister and Colm Meaney are also in the cast. Which means - ultra-nerd alert - that two versions of Life On Mars' Gene Hunt will now be in one film (Meaney played him in in the pilot for the US version, before he was unfairly replaced by Harvey Keitel).
But back to Bel Ami: it has just kicked off shooting this week and will be followed around London and Budapest by a gaggle of screaming Team Edward types.
